5.0 out of 5 stars very capable
This saw may look a little awkward but that extra long handle provides for a grip on each end for horizontal cutting with both hands and a grip in the middle for vertical cutting. 1.0 out of 5 stars Too Bulky, Too Cumbersome
Bought this to use in the BWCA/Quetico after reading a few reviews. While it cuts well, it is way too bulky and cumbersome to take on canoe trips. Would not recommend this to anyone considering similar uses.

This saw may look a little awkward but that extra long handle provides for a grip on each end for horizontal cutting with both hands and a grip in the middle for vertical cutting. I later wrapped some athletic tape around the middle for a better grip but even without it I was sawing through 4-5" dry oak logs easily, getting long, productive strokes with the 24" blade and cutting an extra nights worth of firewood just because it was so easy.
One note is the teeth to back measurement is 7" so the salesblurb is stretching the cuttable log diameter by an inch and those "seconds" are going to be "minutes" if you're going to tackle something that big. But this is the tool to cut serious firewood instead of jerking a little saw back and forth six inches at a time to get through a log.
*add-the saw is fairly light; aluminum tubes with a steel tensioner rod; about 1.5 lbs according to other websites.
*also the oval spreader tube gets flattened/flared at the ends when inside the big round tubes by the pushing forces and can be difficult to remove and then the deformed edges need either filed or rubbed on a rock to fit the tight slots in the main tubes again.

Bought it to take camping and I rarely get to use it everyone snatches it up to go cut firewood instead of whatever dull ax they brought. I may get the shorter one for camping and keep this one for home yard work. It can be a little tricky to assemble (would be easier with 3 hands) but when it's together it's sturdy and very efficient. High quality saw.

This saw is awesome! Very sharp blades will zip through a branch or log in no time. That being said, it is a little long for backpacking (the Sven Saw or Sawvivor is better for that) but if you're car camping its perfect. Comes complete with a very nice heavy duty nylon carrier.

As other reviewers have mentioned mine arrived with the threaded end machined down on opposing sides preventing the wing nut from coming off completely, but then the saw will assemble without the wing nut coming off completely anyway.... Of course I didn't realize this until after I had re-cut the threads on the end.

Recommendation: Buy one if you will be car camping & anticipate cutting medium to large logs for the fire.

The saw is very light weight but very strong. Took me a few minutes to figure out exactlly how to assemble it but once I did I cut 8in logs with no problems, it just tore right through. Excellent investment!

The saw works well. It goes together easily, then packs down compactly again. Other reviewers have complained that the wing nut won't come off. It is obviously designed this way to prevent the nut from being lost.

Nicer (sharper) blade than I expected. But a little heavier than I'd hoped for. I don't imagine that there's much market for the same product done in a more exotic metal (titanium? at twice the price?).
