Cheaper elsewhere,

There is nothing I can say about Collective Efforts and their work that hasn't already been said here, so I'll let all the other reviews speak for this album. If your looking to pick up this album go to ugrecordings (search for it or it's on cecrews website under merchandise store). You can get all 3 of their latest releases (including this one) plus a t-shirt and poster for less than what most sellers on here are charging for just this album used. Plus you'll be supporting the artist directly and not these outlandish prices.

Ben Hameen and Jmil make another ATL classic,
This review is from: Trail Mix (Audio CD)
When Live on Arrival broke up it was earth shattering but with Collective Efforts it almost makes the breakup bearable. Collective and this album are another phase in Ben's life and although he has grown to a different sound and this is no Live On Arrival, he offers an amazing hiphop group and message. Buy this album and pick up "visions of things to come" and you to will be dedicated to Ben, Jmil, and Bambu.

ATL Reppin It,

I am really enjoying this album. The beats are fire. Lyrics? Fire. Music with a message will reign triumphant over mindless nonsense, and this album is a great example of this inevitable phenomenon. It's rare these days to have an artist/group put out a CD with 25 tracks on it where a majority of the songs are really well put together. I can say with all honesty that there are no 'skippers' on this album. so that being said, go on and get you one. Peace to my ATL artists tryin to get it. yall on amazon now! doin big thangs.

Trail Mix: Worth it...,

OK. Usually you buy a CD, give it a few listens, then put it aside and let it collect dust BUT not with Collective Efforts "Trail Mix." There is so much material on this album but for some reason you don't lose interest in the tracks and put it aside. The album is very diverse and it can relate to most people. It's not very often that you find a POSITIVE hiphop group or MC but they have steped up to the plate. I've seen them live here in Atlanta a few times and they perform very nicely. You can tell that they function as a efficient group b/c they come well prepared and kill every show i've seen them at. You must buy the album and see them live to get the full effect, but just buying the album will make you feel better after you give it a listen. Plus, 20+ tracks of quality music with thoughful lyrics! Need i say more?

ATL's Underground represents the right way...,

It's about time another classic hip-hop group emerged from the Atlanta underground. Collective Efforts has been around for a very long time and they've finally dropped a worldwide classic that everyone can relate to. "Trail Mix" is more diverse in both beats and rhymes than your average hip-hop album. It's great music brought to you in a respectful and mature manner. There isn't ONE song where a gun shot goes off, crack rock gets sold, hoe gets slapped, or word gets used out of text. The vocalists are very intelligent and there's no question of that from the opening track "Movin' Foward". There are so many jewels on this album that i can't go into WHICH song is my favorite. The whole ablum is my favorite!I'm trying my best to catagorize this album and i can't. That's one of the reasons for my 5-star rating. This is all new music to my ears and i've been listening to hip-hop music for 23 years. "Trail Mix" is well put together and obviously well thought out. It sounds like a lot of time and effort was put into creating this installment - which might i remind you, has a very nice track count. There are like 20 something songs on this thing so, let's talk about getting your money's worth shall we? Do your ears a favor and check this album out. Ride around to it, bump in your crib, pick up that girl you've been trying to get at forever and turn her on to it - i'll bet you'll get somewhere with her. ATL"s underground has just represented in most righteous and original form since Outkast. That's right, SINCE OUTKAST!!! Big ups to the members of Collective Efforts: Hameen, J-Mil, Bambu the Almanatic and DJ Creashun...i hope you guys blow all over the globe! |
