Louis L'Amour's novel is exciting and action-packed.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Trail to Seven Pines (A Hopalong Cassidy Novel) (Hardcover)
Louis L'Amour has done it again! "The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel", is another L'Amour masterpiece that can be added among his other great works and ranks among the best western novels of all time. L'Amour has successfully portrayed Hopalong Cassidy as the ruff and heroic figure of the Bar 20 that Clarence E. Mulford started. Through his vivid description's, L'Amour makes you feel like you are riding along with Hopalong and the ever-present dangers on the range. While reading,"The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel", I also felt like I was sitting around a campfire out in the wilderness somewhere and listening to a master storyteller. Louis L'Amour has mastered the art of storytelling and "The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel" is a great example of his mastered skill. From start to finish,"The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel" is packed with action and the inevitable, but unpredictable gun battles, that make the Old West so fascinating. L'Amour not only wrote a great work of art, but also uses a style of writing that makes the novel readable by young and old alike. Through this novel L'Amour shows how he can turn a good western into an even better one by throwing a few mysteries into the loop of events. With L'Amour's writing of "The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel", he has raised the standards for western writers to see if they can rise to the challenge and surpass the newly set point of quality. Through L'Amour's carefully picked words, he describes the beauty of the terrain and his knowledge of the famed American Cowboy and life on the range. "The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel", is just flat out entertaining and should be read by anyone with any interest in westerns or the Old West way of life. Through Hopalong Cassidy, L'Amour portray's the well-mannered and tough American Cowboy that shaped our frontier. L'Amour also takes the novel a bit further by including in it murderer's, thieves, and rustler's all in one book. If I were to grade "The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel", I would give it an A+. "The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel" has everything you could want in a western and then some. The novel still includes the basic battle between good and evil, but adds a little more twist with their being murderer's, theives, and rustler's up against a good-natured cowboy and his outfit of a few good men, all at the same time! I say all at the same time because most western's are about stage robber's or rustler's, but not about stage robber's, murderer's, and rustler's together. I like how L'Amour added these evils together because it made the novel more interesting in the fact that it makes the novel more unpredictable as to what will happen next. If you think I am putting, "The Trail to Seven Pines:A Hopalong Cassidy Novel" on a pedistal, then you are right. I think it is the best western I have ever read and I have been reading them for many years. If you do not believe me, then go out to a local bookstore and if you can find the novel, read it. I hope you enjoy the novel as much as I did and if you do, then write your own review.

This review is from: The Trail to Seven Pines (Mass Market Paperback)
well i had to do a school prodject that had to do with reading a book that you liked and could read and stay interested in it. so i talked to my dad about it and he told me to read a Louis LaMaur book. so I picked the Trail to Seven Pines. All though I have only read to the third chapter this has been the best book that I've probley ever read. Because it has a plot like all of the Clint Eastwood movies that are all my favorites. But i am working on finishing the book very soon just because i wont to know what happens in the end.
