I have used the Trailer Life Campground directories for decades. It is improved every year, and I try to upgrade at least every 2 years. It is definitely the best out there.....so far.

PROS: A most helpful listing is last year's price ranges for each campground. Another is the addition of addresses for most RV parks for GPS use.

CONS: 1) Trailer Life is VERY reluctant to list smaller parks and Mobile Home parks that allow short term use. This is greatly needed in many cities while campers need to be "in town" for less "recreational" purposes. At least let us know IF they exist so, in a pinch we can stop where needed (and not need to drive many miles out of the city to park for a night or two).

2) Many cities that have county/state fairgrounds have numerous camp sites...even with full hookups. They are almost never listed.

3)National Parks are usually listed by the nearest town. Often, these towns are so small that one would have no clue that the listings are for a major National Park....or,when there are several NPS campgrounds, they often are each listed under a different town, and not by National Park.

I believe that these 3 CONS are because Trailer Life charges a fee for campgrounds to be inspected and listed. If they do not pay their fee, they may not be listed, or in the case of National Parks (who won't pay fees), the listings favor private campgrounds that support TL. We pay good money for the book, and should be treated better.

This is THE camping guide for RVing. There are others, but this one is tops. Another I recommend is "Camping with the Corps". The Corps of Engineers maintains the best campgrounds, at least for my tastes.

We have been using these books since 1987. They are pretty good and fairly accurate. We always save our personal info about campgrounds and transfer them from book to book each time we purchase a new guide. Think these are the best out there. If you are going to go camping, you need this book.

This book is very good and comprehensive. I am new to RVing and found it very helpful and informative; nice coupons, too, which saved me more than the cost of the book. I also recommend Woodall's

In addition to the RV park information noted above, features include: "Maine's Attractions" -- traveling up Maine's Atlantic Coast; "RVers' Top 40 Destinations" for special events, theme parks, shopping and services; and a then-and-now look back over the directory's 40 years. Destination "Spotlights" focus on 150+ states, regions and cities in the United States and Canada.

This book is loaded with information about RV parks. It gives a rating on most of them so you have some idea of what you are getting in to. It lists some public or state/federal park campgrounds, but not many. They could do a better job with that.

This is a very large book. I think it added an extra 20 pounds to my RV (not really). Great resource for finding information about the many different RV sites. We have been very pleased with the Good Sam ranking structure for the different categories. I actually bought this book cheaper on Amazon than what I could have purchased it for through Good Sam. I'm not sure how they do it.

This directory is very complete and has all the information you need to know about each campground. It is the best directory we have used. The driving directions are very good, and the GPS coordinates will get you there if the road signs are down (and you have a GPS or we use On-Star). The only negative is that the campgrounds are listed by town, and sometimes you don't know all the little towns near where you are looking for a campground. There have been a couple times when we knew there was a campground where we were headed, but needed driving directions, a phone number to check availability, etc., but had a difficult time finding it in the book, because it was listed under a different town. I wish they would add an index at the back of each state's section, so you could look them up by name, or have a detailed fold-out map that showed all the campgrounds with a reference number to the actual listing. Other than that, this is a great directory. The information is the best of any campground directory.
