Product Description

B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch adapter part # is considered by most experts to be the best 5th wheel hitch money can buy. You would be surprised at the number of customers that will buy the B&W Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch that don't even own a gooseneck trailer and are only ordering so they can use this 5th wheel adapter. To install it simply pull the lever to release the gooseneck ball, slide in the attachment post included with the kit, set the base over the shank, and tighten one bolt / two U bolts. The entire process takes less than 10 minutes and is just as easy to remove.

We bought a truck with a gooseneck hitch in it but we needed a fifth wheel hitch so we did a bunch of cking into what would be best and work and we found this B&W hitch. We ordered it and as always Amazon was quick to ship So my husband and grandson put it on...it went on quick as a whistle! We are very pleased with it.It was the best way to go price wise too. We could use the gooseneck and it saved us money being able to do it ourselves! It is easy on and easy off. We will be taking it off to put a spray bedliner on the truck. We would definitly recommend this hitch! We tow a 39 ft. Cedar Creek.

I absolutely love this hitch! Packaged very nice. Directions are fairly clear, if you have any questions, search youtube for a video. My package was missing one 5/8'' Stop Nut, but a quick trip to the hardware store fixed that. Also, some of the bolt holes were a TAD too snug after being powder coated. Once the unit was assembled, installation was a breeze! What a beautiful hitch. Will stay with me forever!

I finally purchased and installed this B&W Companion Hitch and feel I need to share my opinion of it. The installation started with me deciding to double-check my B&W Gooseneck installation. I figured if that wasn't right, then this attachment hitch would only make it worse... Good thing I made this choice! Right below the hole for the gooseneck ball, the center bolt on the frame assembly was missing it's lock washer and nut. A call to B&W and a trip to the local Fastenal resulted in a new grade 8 steel bolt, washer, lock washer and nut. Once that was installed and torqued correctly I got to work on the Companion.

I didn't notice the left handle of the saddle assembly was bent due to movement in the box during shipping, and when I picked it up two of my fingers got crushed. Wasn't expecting that, but after a bit of hopping around and shaking my hand I was over it and ready to get to work. The instructions are easy to follow and set-up is straightforward. Extra hardware was included in my package. My only suggestion is that when setting torque of the bolts, make sure you hand tighten them all equally first, and then torque them in rotation until all related bolts on whatever assembly your working on (for example, the left arm) are snapping your torque wrench without any movement. Once the entire base is done, check the torque of all your bolts again.

The draw down bolt is basically what locks the base to the gooseneck hitch. This bolt, tightened to 40 ft-lbs, pulls the hitch post up putting pressure on the ball lock. Don't over-torque this or you risk bending your base.

My first towing with this hitch was a 10,000 5er with a 2,100 hitch weight. Locking up was an easy no brainer.

I have a B&W gooseneck hitch, which I completely love, that I towed a 42 ft. toy hauler with utilizing an adapter attached to the king pin box. That setup gave a little too much chucking. I was also worried about the added stress put on the trailer's frame by the extension. After extensive online research, I decided to purchase this B&W hitch. Boy am I glad I did! There was one review I found on a couple RV blog sites by a gentleman that said he "has been towing fifth wheel trailers over twenty years, using four different brands, and found the B&W to be the best by far. It was the tightest, smoothest, quietest, and easiest to use." I cannot agree more. I've seen others' hitches. They are bulky, clunky, heavy, and hard to remove. They also almost all use those bars that have to be bolted across your bed, which are a pain, to say the least. Even though you have to purchase the underbed gooseneck hitch, making it kind of expensive, though still less than many fifth wheel hitches, it is worth it! It is a snap to install in your truck. Being that it is two pieces, it is easy to remove by yourself, since each piece is manageable. You'll love having nothing you your truck bed when not needing the hitch. Hooking up a trailer is a cinch. It is super easy and smooth. It locks tight. There is never any clunking, whether towing or just having the hitch in the bed. I cannot speak highly enough about the setup!

i know several other people that have fifthwheel trailers and they also say this hitch is the only way to go. I have towed with my buddies truck who has a different brand and his hitch is a pain to deal with. The locking and unlocking is super easy on this hitch.

This hitch is well worth the money. Super easy install.

Had no issues with shipping or missing parts.

While the 2 parts necessary to utilize this hitch design add more weight then a traditional 5th wheel hitch, this is the only hitch on the market that when removed leave the floor of the bed completely usable as there are no permanently mounted bed rails. The B&W Turnover Ball Goose-neck Hitch it attaches to is completely under the bed and also accepts many other hitch types such as; Inverted Ball, King Pin, 5th wheel and even a sliding 5th wheel hitch. There are also other accessories suck as a heavy duty eyelet and even a utility rack that all can be attached and removed with no above the bed surface hardware. As someone who uses the actual bed of my truck more often then a hitch, it was important to have a flat bed surface obscured by the rails necessary with all other hitch designs. You may find cheaper ways to have a 5th wheel, but you wont find a better way.
