5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute S**tgem !!, January 27, 2005

I've never bothered to review anything here before but i just had to say how amazing i thought this show was. I was only introduced to it a couple of weeks ago (I'm from the UK, so you can imagine how much air time is given to little known Canadian sit-com's : None !).

This is truely up there with the best sitcoms i've ever seen, the script, direction and acting are all flawless from beginning to end, which led to me watching series one and two in a single sitting !

This show needs to be picked up in the US and UK as I can't imagine anyone not liking it.

In short - Buy this, Buy everything to do with Trailer Park Boys, tell your friends, move to canada, live in a car, eat pepperoni, F**k off !

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Favorite Show!!!, January 3, 2005

Quite easily one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Why this hasn't caught on an American cable company is beyond imagination.

With poor Ricky's mangling of words and phrases (e.g., when denying he's gay describing he and Julian as having a "plutonium relationship"); Julian's ever present rum and coke (which doesn't even spill after a car crash as he exits the upturned vehicle; the hydroponic dope farm in an Airstream trailer; Bubble's wisdom and self-deprecating nature; J-Roc, Cory and Trevor, Randy and Mr. Leahey - the entire ensemble cast of Trailer Park Boys is terrific.

I find myself in situations throughout the day wondering "what would Ricky do?"

If you're in dire need of laughter, if your life just couldn't get worse, spend a few hours in the company of The Trailer Park Boys - and the world will be a brighter, more beautiful place. Trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Think Ricky, Think, January 1, 2005

The Trailer Park Boys is filmed in Halifax, Nova Scotia. While the series is funny no matter where you're from, there are a number of inside jokes such as Ricky and his dad's love for pepporoni (Brother's pepperoni is a regional thing and tastes like nothing else out there), J-Roc's loyalty to those from "The Park" is a nod to those from the Mulgrave Park housing project. Mike Smith who plays Bubbles on the show does a perfect imitation of the North End accent especially when he calls people a "f#@ing c#$%sucker". Julian and his omnipresent rum and coke also reflect the popularity of the drink in that region.

The show is a "mockumentary" format. Think of taking the show Cops and filming from the side of the criminals. The schemes that Julian and Ricky come up with are hilarious. Season 2 centers around Julian's plan he calls "Freedom 35" (a reference to London Life Insurance's Freedom 55 campaign).

You should watch the episodes in order as there are subtle references to earlier shows. (Look for the Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special to be released next year; it's a prequel to the series). You'll see some patterns emerge like Jim Lahey (the Trailer Park Supervisor) using the word s@#t in very creative ways whenever he warns Ricky and Julian not to cross him.

The commentary by Mike Clattenberg are worth checking out. Also the "lost interviews" included with the DVD are hilarious. There's also a bonus music video from the Canadian band The Tragically Hip featuring the Trailer Park Boys and Hockey Night in Canada icon Don Cherry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably Funny -- so glad I found T.P.B., May 26, 2004

I accidentally ran across Trailer Park Boys on BBC America the other night. Man, am I happy that I did!!!!! I've only seen three episodes from Season 1, but I just went over to Amazon Canada and purchased the first three seasons. I don't even know where to begin to describe this show -- you've got to see it to believe it! There's Julian, who *always* has a drink in his hand. Oops, I take that back. One time I saw him shaving in the morning while eating a banana and smoking a joint! Then there's Ricky. Oh god, where to begin????!!! World's worst father, but I'm sure he means well. His 8 yr old daughter has gotten drunk while under his supervision (off-screen, only references to it made on-screen). When the park teens (Trevor and Cory?) come over with some joints, Ricky has them hand the joints to his daughter. Ricky finds a gun in his drawer and shoots it off at the roof, exclaiming "cool, there's still bullets left". And then there's the rest of the cast of characters ... too many to go into here, and besides like I said I've only seen 3 episodes, but I'm hooked. If you live in the USA and get BBCA, ***CHECK THIS SHOW OUT***. And, if you love it even half as much as I do, you can go buy the first 3 seasons at Amazon Canada.

Canada has some great shows ... first there was Red Green, then The Newsroom, and now Trailer Park Boys. Gotta love Canada! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Trailer Trash Rules, October 15, 2004
This review is from: Trailer Park Boys - Big Plans Little Brains - 1st and 2nd Seasons (DVD)
I'm resistant to anything new. I hate change! However, when my Canadian husband, made me sit down and watch an oddly named Canadian show I was skeptical. It took me a while to get into this show, not being versed in all things Canadian. Now I can't get enough of it.

The show follows two petty criminals Julian and Ricky through their daily lives of meat sticks, jalepeno chips, trailer park life, trying to get over on 'the man' and love.

Quite frankly, there is nothing else like it on tv. If you are looking for something that will make you laugh, and make you feel better about your OWN life, watch this show.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Trailer Park Boys - Big Plans Little Brains - 1st and 2nd Seasons (DVD)
I must be one of the only people to have seen this show when it originally came out. I used to go to my friends house after highschool with some other buddies, we'd play video games, and chill out. We stumbled upon TPB is 2002 and we loved it. Everyone else didn't know what we were talking about when we cracked jokes about Bubbles and Ricky. I though i was the only fan of the show until it now became so popular. Im glad to hear so many great reviews from people across north america. This show friggan rocks, it is comedic genius, go get it NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars TPB - Canadian History In The Making, October 5, 2004
This review is from: Trailer Park Boys - Big Plans Little Brains - 1st and 2nd Seasons (DVD)
Trailer Park Boys is a great Canadian comedy! Mike Clattenburg and a group of his high-school friends didn't know the s***storm they stirred up when they created this masterpiece. You'll watch these DVD's until you slowly go insane just waiting for the next season to come out. It shows that no matter who you are, you can still have great values, great friends, and great dope.

5.0 out of 5 stars So funny! So stupid!, January 3, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Trailer Park Boys - Big Plans Little Brains - 1st and 2nd Seasons (DVD)
This show is comic genius. These hapless regulars live in a trailer park in Novia Scotia -- every day they try to find a way to retire from crime -- usually by scoring the biggest drug deal they can think of! They drive down the road in a car with no door, balancing rum and coke on the dashboard. In a strange way, you just have to love them for being so totally clueless. There is a kind of innocence to them. I recommend this series to anyone with a strong stomach for language (tho on BBC-TV, the words are bleeped out -- which actually has a neat effect of every other word being bleep). Filmed in a "documentary" style, it is worth every penny of the price.
