So, I'm giving this product a "1", because in spite of its obvious "POOR QUALITY MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP", it was nevertheless another learning experience!

Boy was I excited when I arrived home to find the box behind my door, with my new Electric Tongue Jack--just in time for our camping trip that coming weekend. I immediately installed it on our SMALL, LIGHT, 20 FT, Travel Trailer; tried it up and down a couple of times, and set it in place until the weekend. The morning we were to leave, I hitched up without a problem, but something told me I should bring my tools with me, just in case. When we arrived at our campsite, I flipped the switch, the motor turned, but the jack didn't move--no up...no down, just a whining motor. Well, out come the tools, off comes the plastic cover on the housing, and "what to my wondering eyes" do I see, but the pin and set screw that are supposed to hold the shaft to the gear wheel, just sitting in a corner of the housing. Thankfully, I had the right size allen wrench, and I was able to reconnect and TIGHTEN, the pin to the gear. BUT WAIT...that's not the end! This past weekend, we went camping again, and guess what breaks, as soon as we arrive at the campsite? You got it, the Electric Tongue Jack--only this time, the jack just drops down the tube to the ground. Naturally, I assume it's the pin again, so out come the tools--not so lucky this time. My previous repair is holding, so I begin to dig deeper. Now I have to remove the jack completely from the tongue, and look inside. I really didn't believe what I saw next! The 3/4" threaded rod that screws the jack up and down had sheared at the top cotter pin. By now, I'm full of grease, and have no idea how I'm going to drill a new hole in this rod, when suddenly I see that the opposite end of the rod has the same hole and isn't attached to anything. (Of course, I'm praising God for this obvious miracle!) A quick 180 of the rod, replace the pin and the gears, and I'm back in business. So, I'm giving this product a "1", because in spite of its obvious "POOR QUALITY MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP", it was nevertheless another learning experience!

I have been looking for an electric jack for my camper but the prices were all too high. I was very skeptical about the quality of this jack since it was cheaper than most but I was pleasantly surprised. The ad doesn't specify the weight limit for the jack but it is 3500 pounds. The jack was easy to mount. I removed my old jack and mounted this one all within 5 minutes. It has an emergency hand crank and extendable base for the bottom. It has electric lights for night time hook-up. It is pre-wired to plug into your vehicle's trailor plug. Well worth the money. Very good product.

I bought the jack named Trailer Star tongue jack not from Amazon but from an online retailer. After 6 months it started to make grinding noises, one light out, and noticed all the exposed screws rusting. My trailer is stored outside. Took the thing apart and found rust and water inside the gear case. They used a dab of grease here and there. All the gears were rusting. The ball bearings and plate they set on had no grease and rusting. I took all the parts and coated them with water resistant grease. The lights were rusted in and now worthless. The jack works good after greasing all the moving parts. Assembled with cheep parts and poor design of gear case. I replaced all the screws with stainless steel screws.

Was surprised when I opened the box - the electric tongue jack was very cheaply made. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We bought this and the 2nd time we went camping, motor shorted out! You can't easily do it manually because it hit the propane bottles, so you have to turn it 1/2 turn with a wrench at a time. They will replace with same crappy product, I saw two other complaints the same as this, spend a little more money and get a nicer unit if you want something that will work!!!

Purchased in Jun of 2011 the . Worked well for the 1st year.
Then around Sep 2012, The Trailer Star 0093500 Electric Tongue

Used manual crank three times. Sheared shaft on 3rd use.
Hoping Amazon or Manufacture has a fix or refund.
