Format: Paperback
It's a decent book to start your weekend adventures by. Even if you've lived in Central Arkansas awhile, this book probably has a handful of trails / routes you've never heard of. There are large colored photos for each trail as well as a labeled map with GPS coordinates. It' well organized and the information is presented in a clear manner.

Unfortunately, the descriptions are lacking. They're presented as a subjective first-person view of the trail; a lot of "I like this..." , "I park here" --- They can be confusing and sometimes completely irrelevant. Also, occasionally the crude maps don't line up with the actual trail. There are better maps online now that many bikers upload their GPS data to a variety of sites /apps.

Overall it's a nice book to have, and I pull it out occasionally.

More About the Author

Johnnie Chamberlin was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a child he often built dams in the creek near his backyard and frequently mucked around in other nearby drainage ditches despite being warned by his mother that they were contaminated with pesticides and rat poison. As he grew older, he managed to find new ways to pursue this love of splashing around in polluted waterways by researching bioremediation of Superfund sites in grad school, then studying and working on Fourche Creek in Little Rock, and finally by doing environmental monitoring at oil spills in Michigan, Montana, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Johnnie is a Little Rock Central High graduate, has a BA in Cognitive Science from UC Berkeley, and a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Duke University. He is currently working towards an Environmental Dynamics PhD at UA Fayetteville. He enjoys hiking, kayaking, swimming, biking, running, traveling all over and he tries to go on at least one backpacking trip a year.
