5.0 out of 5 stars "Well there won't be any time for jokes after we die,Aaron. We might as well tell 'em now." Fargo, February 16, 2011
This review is from: Trailsman #263: Arkansas Assault (Paperback)
This episode of the Trailsman finds Skye fargo, not in the mountains, not in the desert, not in Indian Country, not in the north in a blizzard, and he is not in a facedown with a Grisley;but he's in the swamplands of Arkansas, where he is facing a pack of trained killer dogs and where he is to become the "hunted" by a wealthy crazed killer who should be in the looney bin.
It is a well constructed story that keeps your interest from beginning to end;but void of the shootouts and struggles of the type we have come to expect with Fargo.Nothing is as it should be, and Fargo intends to find out what's going on.Instead of being the pursuer;he finds himself the one being hunted.Instead of trapped in a canyon,or up the creek without a paddle,he ends up in a tree;trying to find a way of not becoming a dog meal or a hunting trophy.
It is not a story filled with great expressions, there is no history connections, but the interesting characters makes up for that.
A very different episode nonetheless, but in the end Fargo will be glad to get back to the Old West and the wide open spaces, mountains and canyons;and above all else, the kind of people, challenges and things that are more to his liking.
