This review is from: Silver Showdown (The Trailsman #337) (Mass Market Paperback)
It's 1861,and Skye Fargo encounters outlaws shooting up a 3 wagon ore train. Not one to pass on an injustice,he comes to their aid and saves the day and a few lives. He escorts the Colonel and his ore into Las Vegas;but it is a far cry from what it has become today. It doesn't take long for The Trailsman to get involved deeply in a local situation of Old West Gold Mining ,complicated by a vendetta of Mexicans. This all leads to some real fast action manhunts, shootouts, and even an outnumbered, fight to the finish, in a canyon, where it seem Fargo has finally about to meet his demise. It is a well constructed story, has lots of action and interesting characters. There is not much in the way of history ,other than to see what Las Vegas was like when it was a tiny mining town. While there is lots of action, the writing is good and keeps moving right along;there is not a lot of great one liners or colorful language or descriptions;but that is more the norm with this series. |
