A Great Resource Book,
This review is from: Train at Home to Work at Home: How to Get Certified, Earn a Degree, or Take a Class From Home to Begin a Work-at-Home Career (Paperback)
In "Train at Home to Work at Home" author Michelle McGarry lists 27 occupations that can be done working out of your home. Each occupation is first described in order to give you some sense of what the occupation entails. After the description is a section with an extensive list of programs that offer distance training. Within that section the programs are described, complete contact information provided, and the details of the program are given (including costs). This section is followed by one that provides more information including suggested books, organizations, and web sites. This book provides information on different work-at-home occupations. It does not provide information on how to perform those occupations nor does it pretend to provide any training. It is a resource book that points the reader to some of the better work-at-home ideas and how to get the training you will need in order to be successful at the venture.

A Review by BookReviewClub.comFinally, there is a book that actually shows its readers how to train at home to work at home. Out of all books that "teach" to work at home, McGarry's is probably one of the very best. It is comprehensive, resourceful, extremely interesting and fun to read. A fantastic resource that deserves the best spot on your bookshelf. Frankly speaking, I've never read a book written with such careful resourcefulness. The author's love for work-at-home careers truly shines through every page she writes. This book includes 27 top work-at-home careers (that's what she calls it due to the notorious reputation of "home business" term), of which a few might not sound familiar to you. I didn't know what "scoping" meant until I read the well-written and easy-to-grasp description. McGarry cleverly and wittily describes what the career entails, where to get trained (via distance learning -online and offline) and how much the tuition costs. She also includes a chock full of information of additional resources, such as web sites, books and e-books. In addition to its resourcefulness, I also like this book's friendly and straight-to-the-heart writing style. As a work-at-homer herself, the author shares her joy and encourages others to choose the one vocation that fits the working at home lifestyle. You'll be inspired to start your home career immediately with confidence. If you need a really good book about working at home, this is definitely not the one you'd want to miss. It will help you hit the ground running. I, for sure, will keep this book within reach because I will keep returning from time to time. Reviewed by Jennie S. This Book Helped Find Me A Career,

I was interested in an online paralegal study program. This book presented various options, and I ended up at the Washington Online Learning Institute, (WOLI) based on this book's recommendations. It was the best professional decision I ever made. A great school, even better than the author described, possibly because it had grown and developed after the time that the author wrote her book. So, if you can find a book that can really help you with your career, you should buy it! Due to the guidance from this book and my certificate from WOLI, I now am a certified paralegal and happily employed in a corporate law department. I don't know if I would have ended up at WOLI without this book, so I am very grateful to the author for pointing the way and showing that online learning is a very real choice in today's world. I do think, however, that it would have been helpful to distinguish a bit more between fully developed programs such as the one at WOLI with lesser quality study programs at other schools, because this is a real issue that kept coming up as I searched for the right school. Some schools, for instance, are just old fashioned correspondence schools which send you materials and expect you to learn on your own. Other schools, the best ones, provide dynamic online interactive learning environments. That is what I loved about WOLI, but not all schools offer such a rich environment. I think the author could have stressed this a little more and saved her readers some time, but overall this is a very useful book.

Good If You Have the Financial Resources.,
This review is from: Train at Home to Work at Home: How to Get Certified, Earn a Degree, or Take a Class From Home to Begin a Work-at-Home Career (Paperback)
Train At Home To Work At Home: How To Get Certified, Earn A Degree, Or Take A Class From Home To begin A Work-At-Home Career by Michelle McGarry is a good book.
I might argue that the main reason that most folks want to work at home is to earn money. Money that they may not have intially to take the courses that she suggest. It might be better to use an online resource like pennyperclick.com to earn the money for the classes first. |
