A much needed guide for developing natural gait,
By
This review is from: Training the Gaited Horse: From the Trail to the Rail (Paperback)
Gary Lane has brought us a much needed manual for common sense solutions to gaited horses. He utilizes classical and natural training methods for reaching the mind of the horse as well as conditioning the body. Gary has a deep appreciation for natural gait and has given us a guide based his many years of training and rescue experience to aid us in helping our horses develop their natural talent and brilliance; something this industry has lacked for a very long time.

This is no coffee table book; it's a work horse. It is an excellent, thorough, hands on manual for developing a sensible, enjoyable, gaited horse--for ring or trail. Humor, personal experiences, and detailed analysis make for easy reading, but you should plan on reading, and re-reading the book several times to get all the information.

I thought this was one of the better books I've ever read about training the flat shod gaited horse. It was easy to follow and understand. My only drawback was I wish the print was a little larger, otherwise it was a very good book and one I've already been referring to myself in re-training an old horse, as well as my younger horse who is back in training after several months off. Many of these steps mentioned were skipped in his training, luckily he is still very young and had matured slow so it will not be too hard to go back and pickup many of the things he needed which were skipped.

this is a great book you can buy a video also that goes along with the book . I have both . The info that these two have are great for the person that wants to work with their own horse . Or fix a horse that has a gait problem . I got all my questions answered and them some with this book.
