Great for a first time novice RC Helicopter enthusiast like myself.
Helped a lot preventing crashes during takeoffs and landings. Depending on your RC Helicopter model & landing gear, you may have to use tie-straps instead of the clips provided to secure this training gear properly as with one of mine the clips kept popping off randomly. I haven't figured out how to use with RC models that have wheels instead of skids.

The biggest issue I have with this product is that it lacks instructions on how to mount the training gear to the existing training gear, there were no pictures or anything. Putting it together is pretty straight forward, except for trying to figure out the orientation of the 4 mounting clips (again, no instructions, trial and error). The four fiberglass rods that hold the yellow balls come out of the center hub at a slight angle, so there is a question in my mind if the yellow balls should be on the ground, causing the rods to flex slightly or if they should be the other way, hovering just off the ground (I currently have it set in the later configuration...works pretty well). I never did get the clips to work or fit well, and had to use a little bit of tape to ensure that the rods stay secure to the existing gear. A few test flights around the living room have resulted in better landings and no tip overs.

This item would be helpfull in saving the little parts of my helicopter from damage if it were compatable with the helicopter I purchased. When I bought the training gear it didn't say anything about compatability or spesifications for usage so when the site sugested it I bought it. They DO NOT work on helicopters with wheels instead of landing skids.

This is my first comment at Amazon.com, and this product is really bad. No instructions, terrible package, terrible quality and also not compatible with some helicopters. Read other comments before buying it. Not recommended.

Training gear arrived crushed, unprotected in a box with a heavy item. Training gear set had been opened previously and handled before being sent to me.

Seems to work fine on helicopters with landing bars. In the case of the Apache, it has wheels and the assembly does not fit the helicopter. I bought the Training gear because the page recommended it, but the training gear is not compatible with the helicopter at all.

I've had several training kits. This one in particular is not the best one. The tubes are a little bir thin and weak. Try to get a training gear set that has thicker tubes. In that way your helicopter stands a couple of inches above the ground and ptrotects your landing skid.

anyone that is a first-time flyer of an rc helicopter should definitely purchase the training gear. It will save you from replacing motors or blades

Training Gear Cheap Plastic,

Attempting to install this Training gear set on my RC helicopter was difficult. The center piece where the rods are connected under the helicopter is very cheap thin plastic. While attaching the rods the center piece broke. With such a thin plastic center mounting piece, the first hard landing would of caused it the break into pieces. The instructions were not very helpful or detailed.

The training gear I received fit my eSky Honey Bee CT OK, but could slide front and back with no instructions on how to install without changing the center of gravity. They are helpful for learning without hitting the rotors on the ground, and there doesn't seem to be a size indicator to match with helicopter size. Mine may be made for a lighter helicopter, but I don't think so, and how can you tell? The idea is good, but two of my carbon fiber rods broke, and I replaced with coat hanger wire versus trying to splint the old rods. I will have to see how well this works and if the weight difference is noticable, but metal rods seem to be a better choice than the brittle carbon fiber rods. The training gear is a good idea if you can determine the correct size from the description or find it matched to your helicopter model, but be prepared for another part needing modification/repair. |
