Kate fatisizes about dominance and submission so her curiosity leads her to James via a chat room on the internet.James is an authority on the subject and since he is also intrigued by both Kate's looks and obvious enthusiasm, a meeting is scheduled.

Kate passes this initiation test and she in turn is overwhelmed by James' knowledge and confidence. Having thus ascertained that he is sane and trustworthy, they embark on this journey of sexual pursuit with the intent of 'educating' Kate. James hires a farmhouse for a week, as isolation is imperative, where they immerse themselves in this training programmme. He proceeds by perpetually keeping his subject in suspense and sexual arousal putting her through more and more demanding tasks which are intended to emancipate the heroine and allow her to explore her darkest and most secret secxual fantasies.

James is the veteran trainer (reminiscent in many ways of a circus trainer) using the carrot and whip technique to achieve the desired outcome. Like a circus magician he also has in his possession a case which contains anything and everything imaginable from bonds, dildos, chains and other paraphernalia, which he whips out at the appropriate time as required. The rabbit in this case is the heroine who partakes in this enterprise with great relish.

I found the book slightly amusing as this slave\master relationship is not something I can take seriously. However, I also found it very erotic as well as informative as James who is a stickler for enlightment. never fails to explain the psychological and social implications of this type of sexual instruction. I am certain that his theories are equally debatable, but whatever turns people on is fine. Admittedly, he is tender and considerate as the heroine can back out at any time she feels threatened. This was an aspect of the book which I appreciated as I did not find the book distasteful, though some scenes were extreme, in my view.

If you enjoy this genre, this book is recommended as everything is done by mutual consent, though James' lecturing and slightly patronizing tone may at times be annoying.

This was an interesting story (yes an actual story) about how a woman starts out with simple acts of trust and submission with literally someone she doesn't really even know and then as the relationship and trust progress she gives herself over more and more to submission.

Their first date is all in public and she's not really sure what she's getting herself into, but that's also part of the eroticism of being in public; playing with yourself in public, coming but not letting anyone know, etc. Going to an enclosed arbor outdoors and having sex. Private, but not. The weekend in the farmhouse is the big finale and all sorts of games ensue.

This isn't just a wam-bam sex on every page book for the sake of sex. There is some thought put into and enjoy.

I am new to the BDSM scene and this was a wonderful book to read. It gives you a wonderful guide for a submissive to find her dominant. The right kind of dominant, one that is loving, growing, giving, in control and enjoys teaching, loving and sexually freeing his submissive! I am going to use this as a check list. James is my dream lover.

I would also recommend that any dominant take a read to learn what it is submissives need, not just kink BUT dominance.

I would reccommend this book for any one that is new to this scene.

This is easily one of the best and sexiest erotic novels I've read. From the moment James and Kate meet in person, there is constant erotic tension, and it just gets better and better as he leads her deeper into submission. The sex scenes are hot and wonderfully written, and both the sexual detail and the exploration of what the characters are experiencing mentally and emotionally are very well-done. There is plenty of variety and exploration of all sorts of different scenarios--you definitely won't find this book boring or repetitive. And there is a good deal of romance between James and Kate as well, though definitely not in a conventional way. If you're at all turned on by D/s relationships, Training to Pleasure should certainly excite and satisfy you!

This book was very well written. It was informative as well as enjoyable. The characters and their actions were believable. I was amazed at the female insight brought forth from a male author. I found myself looking forward to turning the pages to read what was coming next.

This was really good, I liked the whole theme behind it. Emphasis on safety and trust while also telling a well written story.

I gave this book only three stars because I'm just not that into submission--especially when the submissive has to crawl around on hands and knees like a dog. There were some hot scenes, though, and the book is well written.

This book has two major problems: 1.There is no believable passion between the two characters. 2.To me it felt like the author modeled the male character after himself and spent the whole book trying to prove to the reader just how awesome he really is.

Needless to say, I didn't enjoy it.

A nice, sensual, erotic tale. I wasn't a big fan of it, but two other submissive readers highly enjoied it. It is written more for the submissive eroticism.

I did not care for this book because it lacked passion between the characters. I did not feel the supposed "love" and bond between the two as a couple throughout the book. I reccomend Shayla Black's Wicked Ties for a good bdsm novel with a hot, passionate couple that truly care for one another.
