Great "first exposure",
By Chris B Condon (San Mateo, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Training for Results (Paperback)
This book by Scott Parry starts with "How to Use This Book," which sets a great tone for the rest of the information. The writing style is to-the-point and packed (perhaps even over-packed) with information that's relevant to today's training professional. I find it especially useful for beginning trainers or training managers, but seasoned folks may only want it for a refresher or two. Contents include the reasons for linking training to performance improvement, training needs analysis, designing and developing a training program, and classroom management / facilitation skills. If you take it in chunks, the information is managable--if you try to read it all at one sitting, you may feel overwhelmed. Generally, it's very practical and worth putting on your expense account.

Excellent, Thorough, Valuable,
By William Corsair "Will" (Leavenworth County, KS USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Training for Results (Paperback)
As the previous reviewer notes, this is an excellent resource for trainers and instructional designers. Covering the whole waterfront of the subject, Parry does a terrific job of not only providing good context and ground, but a lot of detail in the form of tables, charts, and job aids.Since this was published in 2000, it's dated for modern computer-based delivery. The principles remain the same, however. |
