After taking in our first border collie rescue dog, we quickly realized that we needed a lot more knowledge to adequately care for our new border. This book is well written and goes from picking out a puppy, physical care, diet, all the way to herding and training guidelines. Reading this book as well as many others allowed my husband to teach our collie and a little border pup we rescued from a tick infested mudhole to work our cattle with great enjoyment. If you are willing to do the research and the work, the Border Collie or any of the herding breeds can greatly enrich one's life with thier immense intelligence and charm.
