5.0 out of 5 stars Great train popup book
This book is a very well constructed pop up book. A train actually moves in and out of the turnnal! The best thing I like about it is, besides the cool pop ups, it's also very educational.

3.0 out of 5 stars WARNING!! TOO DELICATE FOR LITTLE KIDS
This book is way too delicate. My son is easy on books and has had lots of pop-ups and lift the flap books since he was a baby. He received TRAINS for his 4th birthday, and within minutes a pop up was torn. I chastised him to "be more careful" and then while showing him how to be careful I tore one of the trains! The book has to be open just exactly right for the trains to line up properly with the paper "tracks." This book requires more care than the average little kid can manage (i.e the same kids who love Thomas the Tank Engine are probably too young!) On the other hand, I agree that the book has REALLY good information and is a really neat little book. It's too bad that it requires parental supervision. Perhaps if the cardboard were coated with some kind of plastic it would be sturdier???

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for older kids, August 11, 2007
This review is from: Trains: A Pop-Up Railroad Book (Hardcover)
Wonderful book but very fiddly for little hands and will tear easily. I would think it would be a 8 or 9 year old that would be able to care for this book properly. My 3 year old pulled a piece off before I had a chance to stop him and he was trying to play with it. (he has been brought up to respect his books and is not rough or careless either).

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly educational and fun, January 5, 2007
This review is from: Trains: A Pop-Up Railroad Book (Hardcover)
My eight year old son has been obsessed with trains since he was two. It's difficult to find different train activities for him. This book is just right for his age to learn about trains in a fun way without being too babyish. The pop-up illustrations are georgeous and there is plenty of activities to keep them occupied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for older kids who love trains!, January 18, 2007

This review is from: Trains: A Pop-Up Railroad Book (Hardcover)
My 10 year old loves trains, but most of the books about trains are either too babyish or too old for him. This one is perfect. Even though it is a pop-up book it is not babyish at all. It shows different kinds of trains and train cars, and tells lots of information about them. Great for the older elementary kids who still love trains!

This book is amazing and educational. There are so many things to uncover and pull and push. The last page is the best. This is a very hands on book and is great for older kids. Train fans will love this book. Definitly a must.

I bought this for my dad, who has 7 grandchildren. He loves it. It may be listed for 4-8 year-olds, but it's intricate and fragile (not negatively: it just has pages/models that could rip without too much trouble), and I'd have even a 7 or 8 year-old play with it with a little help. Not a "look, but don't touch" book, but as a terrific mix of picture and toy it's worth keeping for generations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Amazing Book Ever, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Trains: A Pop-Up Railroad Book (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my 5 year old son, who has ADHD and OCD. He is obsessed with trains. He has not put this book down since Christmas. I was worried that it would rip like the pop-up books of yesteryear; but it has held up fabulously. Everything moves or has a flap with more information that your brain can handle about trains. My son absolutley loves it. I would recommend this to anyone one who loves trains, young or old. This book is amazing!

4.0 out of 5 stars love it, replace it, love it again, May 27, 2010
This review is from: Trains: A Pop-Up Railroad Book (Hardcover)
We bought this for our 2 year old son about 6 months ago. Many of the sliding trains and little tabs are torn beyond my ability to fix with tape now, but he loves this book SO MUCH that we're just buying a new copy. I really don't mind having to replace the book, that is a price I'm willing to pay for my son to have such an excellent book which is so far above and beyond a regular pop up book.
