Be sensitive to the Spirit of God,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tramp for the Lord (Mass Market Paperback)
Tramp for the Lord is a must read. Corrie's accounts of her travels will inspire, uplift, and teach you many things. For example, if you have ever felt that God could never use you after you've really blown it then you will be encouraged by her story of her plane ride that nearly ended in a crash. During the tense flight she wanted to tell everyone about the gospel before it was too late but she was ashamed and afraid. When the plane landed safely she felt very discouraged with herself. But then a man from the same flight told her that he was amazed at her composure during the high-strung flight and wanted to know what was the secret of her peace. She then shared the gospel with him. He thanked her for giving him much to think about and she thanked God for giving her a second chance. Corrie's adventure illustrates how wonderful our God is for giving us second chances after we feel that we have really failed him.Throughout Corrie teaches us what it is to be very sensitive to God's Holy Spirit in our lives. Sensitive so that when God tells us to make changes in our life we won't wait or make excuses but just be obedient. God can then use you and me like He did Corrie - a tramp for the Lord.

Great sequel to "The Hiding Place",
By
This review is from: Tramp for the Lord (Corrie Ten Boom Library) (Hardcover)
This sequel to The Hiding Place is a book filled with short chapters which take place all over the world and at different times of Corrie's life. If you haven't yet read The Hiding Place, I recommend that you should read that book first.Since this book is a collection of short anecdotes, it's not necessary to read it straight through. I especially enjoyed the chapter entitled "God's Word, the Sword - God's Perfect Weapon". You will be inspired by "One Finger for His Glory" which describes an old woman, crippled with MS, who used one finger to type out translations of the books of Billy Graham, Corrie, and Watchman Nee into her own Russian language. Please check out my review of "Anywhere He Leads Me", a book of devotionals by Corrie Ten Boom, compiled by Judith Couchman. I highly recommend this book and this book is what got me interested in reading "The Hiding Place". God bless you!

So inspiring could be used as a devotional,
By
This review is from: Tramp for the Lord (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book with a box of Kleenex!I think a better way to have read it is daily, like a devotional. The chapters are short, 6 pages tops, and they take one scripture as the theme. Corrie would go into how that scripture was driven home to her, through certain circumstances. The only suggestion I would give is to first read The Hiding Place, you will have a better understand of what this woman went through, and how she was used by God. This book goes into life after the concentration camps, so it is good to have a knowledge of what her life was like before.

I was touched repeatedly by her stories of courage, love, and forgiveness. I sensed an underlying message that happiness comes from walking in obedience to the Lord, whenever and however He requests it from us. Very moving and difficult to put down!

Amazing book about an amazing woman,
This review is from: Tramp for the Lord (Mass Market Paperback)
I had read THE HIDING PLACE by Corrie ten Boom back in the tenth grade, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just recently, my interest in Corrie ten Boom resurfaced, and I found myself wondering, "What happened AFTER she was released from the concentration camp?" I picked up a copy of TRAMP FOR THE LORD, and read straight through in just a couple days. The book answered my question.TRAMP FOR THE LORD starts off right where THE HIDING PLACE ends, with Corrie ten Boom returning to Holland, and searching out her new mission in post-prison life. She turns to globe-trotting the world and spreading her story and the love of Jesus with everyone she meets. The stories she tells in this book in 35 little chapters adds up to an amazing adventure that will leave you wanting more. Corrie spent almost 20 years traveling the world, and she has a lot of amazing stories and insights in life to share. So, if you're looking for some encouragement, a great read, or something to work through devotionally, TRAMP FOR THE LORD is a great book. (Also, the ending chapter sets up IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE perfectly. That book details the events of Corrie's life leading up to THE HIDING PLACE. Check it out as well!)

Corrie Ten Boom shares her life after her time spent in the Nazi concentration camp. This book will strenghten your faith in knowing we have a God who cares about our needs. Corrie is real with her life and struggles and all that God teaches her through them. This book has changed my perspective about Jesus and what my purpose is in this life.

"devotional" sequel to The Hiding Place,
By
This review is from: Tramp for the Lord (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is the sequel to "The Hiding Place". (Corrie and her family hid Jews during WWII. They were caught...Corrie's father and sister died, but Corrie survived and was eventually released from the concentration camp.)After the war, Corrie started travelling the world sharing her Christian faith. She became a "Tramp for the Lord"! Each chapter of this book "stands alone" and tells of a different experience she had as she travelled...Each chapter is also based on specific Bible verses. It is almost "devotional" in how it reads...In fact, you really could read one chapter a day and make this your daily devotional reading for awhile! This book was inspiring, encouraging, and motivating...It shows the powerful way Jesus can use someone when their heart is truly committed to Him. I recommend it!

This review is from: Tramp for the Lord (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is a sequel to "The Hiding Place" a biography about Corrie Ten Boom's experience during World War II, arrested and sent to a German concentration camp for hiding Jews.Corrie surrenders to God's Will for her life to take the Gospel and her story to the entire world. Because of her humbleness, she is able to connect to people from all walks of life, from royalty to prisoners. She was especially able to connect with prisoners who were hopeless because of her own experience of being locked up. It was easy for her to minister to the victims of WWII, but Corrie resisted going back to Germany, the land that she dreaded. But she obeys and goes to Germany where she meets one of her former prison guards, one of the cruelest, walking up to her after a meeting. A chill grips her heart and bitterness wells up when he asks for her forgiveness. Leaning on the power of the Holy Spirit, she was able to forgive her enemy and found God's love overflowing. Each chapter is a story and devotional about a situation Corrie encounters. My favorite one is, "I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go, Dear Lord... but Not Up Ten Flights of Stairs."

Joy. 'Pure' joy.,
By
This review is from: Tramp for the Lord (Mass Market Paperback)
An excerpt of this book might say it all (from Chapter 5)..."A great ocean separated me from my homeland. I had no money. Nobody wanted to hear my lectures. All I had was an inner word from God that He was guiding me. Was it enough? All I could do was press on--and on--and on--for His Name's sake. Before going to sleep I opened my Bible, my constant companion. My eyes fell on a verse from the Psalms, "The Lord taketh pleasure...in those that hope in His mercy" (147:11). It was a thin web--a tiny filament--stretching from heaven to my little room on 190th Street in New York. I fell asleep holding on to it with all my strength." Oh, what a joy to learn that God is for us and not against us! I highly recommend this book. It contains story after story of God's goodness, His wonder, and His amazing ways.

If you liked, "The diary of Anne Frank", here is the next best thing. A book that at times is chilling and exciting it will blow you away. Ms. Ten Boom is a very committed Christian who helped many Jews escape the wrath of Hitler. A must read!
