As The Novelty Wore Off, The Music Stuck...,
By Geminiguy (Bloomington, IN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trance & Acid (Audio CD)
I bought this album while in Germany. I did not know much about the artist, but I did know that he had a song on the airwaves at the time that had my attention. So, I gave it a chance, popped it in my CD player, and to this day it is a template to how I like my trance music.
Even the songs with verbal inclusion seem decent enough to not destroy the moods delivered by progressive trance. The novelty of one song still remains fresh even after hundreds of spins in my CD players. "Life Is To Short" has a good message to it, but one upping that little bundle of posative joy is the most awesome use of the theme to "Never Ending Story". I heard that and I still love that song... nearly three years after hearing it. "Trance & Acid" is pulse pounding and hot and "Voyager" follows suit minus the repetative vocals. I can't say that this album is perfect, it does falter in several spots, but it redeems itself more often than not. With that, this album has a 5 but I actually wanted to give it a 4.5. Still, this is a worthy addition to any trance affecionadoes collection. I bought it on a whim and I am glad that I did.

If you're into trance, you'll enjoy,

Don't let the 3 stars mislead you, this is a pretty decent album probably more along the lines of 3.5 stars. It's ultimately hurt by the inclusion of vocals. If you want to call them vocals, some of the tracks are just a guy talking (Tracid Theme, Too Many Times, etc.), the ones with the female hold up a little better. Though I would have appreciated this more if it would have been all instrumental, but perhaps it breaks up the monotony a bit. This is much better then the majority of trance out there has some nice buildups and isn't quite as cheesy as some. Soo if you are still a fan of trance, I recommend this if you can afford the import price. But if you get bored of this type of music, this cd probably won't change your mind. Peace, love and unity :)

After seeing a video with him spinning at a club, I was very excited to get some CDs of his stuff. Unfortunately, his CDs don't portray what I heard on video. He uses a lot of vocals in his mixes and I personally can't stand vocals in trance even if it's mixed with Acid house. So there is one good song on the CD without vocals that I like.
