Pretty Nice Compilation, March 15, 2004
This review is from: Trance Classics 2 (Audio CD)
Here's the follow up to volume one of the Trance Classics series. Once again it's on a two disc set. Just like in volume one, great selection of songs here. A lot of memories brought back to me with this compilation.
Disc one includes songs like DJ Sammy's "Boys Of Summer." Just like his other hit "Heaven," this single became good enough to make US radio. There's also DJ Jean's "The Launch." I used to enjoy this song a lot. I would play it everyday and say the countdown (Five, Four, Three, Two......, One, Zero, Ignition). Ian Van Dahl's in here with "Castles In The Sky." This song also made US radio. I was beginning to forget about that song. It's been two years since I last heard it. I also like "Everytime" by Lustral. It was a nice song for some reason. I don't know why. It must be because of the vocals. Those are beautiful vocals. There's also "Wavy Gravy" by Sasha, "The Dance Valley Theme" by System F, "Don't Stop" by German DJ Andre Tanneberger, a.k.a. ATB ("It's the real sound"). "Meet Her At The Love Parade" by Da Hool and more.
Disc two's got Veracocha's "Carte Blanche." "Carte Blanche" would always play during 1999-2000. Indeed a classic. It was produced by the diddly Dutch master himself, Ferry Corsten who did the song "Punk" which is on here. "Punk" was my favorite song of 2003. I'd always chant the melody and say "digital punk" a number of times. Even though the song's still kind of new, it's still a classic. It was an instant classic. Another song on here is Gouryella's "Walhalla." I haven't heard this song for a while. Walhalla is actually the name of the heaven for norse gods. It was something like that. Did you know that? And there's Dario G's "Sunchyme." This song has samples of Dream Academy's "Life In A Northern Town." I liked this song for some reason and I don't know why. Plus there's "Toca's Miracle" by Fragma, "Touch Me" by Rui Da Silva, "Ubik" by Timo Maas, "The Theme" by Jurgen Vries, and more.
It's still a nice collection of trance songs, but the problem is that the songs run slower than their normal speed. That's why I kind of knocked a star off. Everything else is alright. I still hope to see more good trance from these guys.

I was not thrilled with the $20.00 price, I don't think it's worth it. There were not many songs to my liking on here, but there are a few that I wanted to point out.
DJ Sammy- Boys Of Summer. I like the Green Court Mix that's on here.
DJ Jean-The Launch. This is a cool song with a good beat. The only thing I don't like about this song is when the beat stops.
ATB-Don't Stop. This one is very well mixed out of The Launch and into Meet Her At The Love Parade.
Da Hool- Meet Her At The Love Parade. Classic, really great remix.
Ian Van Dahl-Castles In The Sky. This song was on the first CD of house music I had ever gotten- Best Of House Vol. 1. I never liked this song, but I eventually started to appreciate this particular mix of it.
Mike Koglin-The Silence. Same thing as Castles In The Sky, I've known about it for a long time but not liked it. It took me a bit to appreciate this one as well.
Art Of Trance-Madagascar. This is a Ferry Corsten mix. Did he mix this CD? This song is mixed into the next one, which happens to be by System F (Ferry Corsten), and then there's another Ferry Corsten Song on the second disc (Punk). I think Carte Blanche is too, but I'm not sure.
System F- Dance Valley Theme. My favorite song on the whole disc set. I just couldn't get enough of it for the first few days I had this CD.
Sasha-Wavy Gravy. I have absolutely no idea how this song is considered trance. Not that it's bad or anything like that, but it barely has any beat! Not my idea of house/trance.
Gouryella-Walhalla. This is long and got pretty annoying when I listened to it. It doesn't really have what the other songs have.
Dario G-Sunchyme. This mix of it is really great, but it doesn't sound much like the original Sunchyme. That doesn't change anything, it's still cool.
And the rest... Some were good, some were bad. A little bit above average for me overall.
