An excellent source, drawing heavily upon systemtic data,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trance and Treatment: Clinical Uses of Hypnosis (Paperback)
Now in its second edition, Trance & Treatment: Clinical Uses Of Hypnosis discusses the practice of hypnosis as a facilitator and diagnostic tool that psychologists can use in various treatment strategies. Arranged to echo the flow of a standard evaluation and treatment sessions, Trance & Treatment discusses how to use the author's "Hypnotic Induction Profile", a 10-minute clinical assessment procedure that connects hypnotizability to the patient's personality style. Further chapters cover use of hypnosis for smoking control, eating disorders, anxiety, concentration, insomnia, phobias, psychosomatic disorders and much more. An excellent source, drawing heavily upon systemtic data to support its investigation into the beneficial uses of hypnosis in the treatment of psychological dysfunction, and recommended for scientific students of hypnosis, particularly those interested in applying it to mental health practices.

Hypnosis in Centering and Restructuring,
This review is from: Trance and Treatment: Clinical Uses of Hypnosis (Paperback)
This is an excellent text for the doctor, dentist or psychologist with experience with hypnosis. Of particular interest to Psychiatrists in a Consultation-Liaison service and those who use psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, etc. Unique in promoting the use of evidence based practice and the Hypnotic Induction Profile in clinical management.
Teaches 3 main principles: (1)Hypnosis and its measurement (2)Hypnosis and Brief Restructuring Therapy (3)Hypnosis and Centering in Long-term therapy. This is a classic text that has been updated and enhanced to become an invaluable part of the modern psychiatric psychodynamic practice. The hypnodiagnostic sections and the brief restructuring techniques are of particular value for in-patient psychiatry, while the latter parts provide an excellent model for choosing and structuring long-term out-patient psychotherapy.
