4.0 out of 5 stars Tranceformer 2000
Piccotto's mix is hard and progressive. It is trance but with elements of house. My fav tracks are Pulsar, Imperiale, Lizard, Out of the Blue, Gouryella, and Iguana. Not a stunner but if you are a fan of house and trance, it's something different. This is perhaps a new genre of trance...

3.0 out of 5 stars Try Tranceformer 1999
I waited for nearly a month to obtain this album - after buying Tranceformer 1999 in London, I knew I had to have this year's comp too. Beware, however, because 2000 doesn't quite match up to its predecessor. The second disc is much better, and generally worthwhile, but the first, mixed by Mauro Piccotto, falls miserably flat. The second cd with Lange is one of the best uplifting trance mix i've heard. Very melodic, sometimes dreamy, and extremely danceable. Tracks with vocals should put you in a euphoric state.

I would buy the whole compilation just for Lange's mix. It's that good! If I were to rate the 2 cds separately, Piccotto would be 3.5 and Lange 5.0, with considerations that i'm bias towards trance.

Beware, however, because 2000 doesn't quite match up to its predecessor. The second disc is much better, and generally worthwhile, but the first, mixed by Mauro Piccotto, falls miserably flat. Especially good on Lange's disc is the Seven Cities remix. All in all, if you've got a penny or two to burn, you'll get at least half your money's worth. And if you don't already have Tranceformer 1999 (gray box set), make it your mission to procure a copy - the Euphoria comp makes for a good investment too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost worth the money, August 16, 2000

35 Beans for a cd is a bit much and this set is almost worth it...At that price its a steal.... No matter what cds I bought after this, I keep turning back to it....It just won't die....Picotto does a good job stress good because it tends to dip into hard dark house like others say (that I tend to find annoying some of the time).... But it does have some catchy tracks mixed in very well.... Lange however, puts it over the top with his soft mellodic trance...He has a lot of programming input, more than other DJ's, and he uses them to his advantage as this cd keeps me coming back... I guess the name Tranceformer rings true as it changes from hard to soft, dark to light....but enough of the analogies, don't over look this set, if you can find it for under 25 you will definately get your time and moneys worth... For now, ICU Generation Episode 0.1 with Kimball Collins is my choice for the sleeper cd at amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Trance, ...you'll like this, March 21, 2000

If you love Trance, you'll like this. This album has classy tracks like Kaycee's "Escape" and the ever-so-loved (by me) remix of Alice deejay "better off"........and of course my fav. trance song of all time...System F "out of blue". The tranceformer consists of two awesome CD's,.... cd one mixed by Mauro Piccotto and the other one by Lance. The tracks are masterfully mixed to make up one of the best trance albums I've heard for a while.

If you like uplifting trance (like me) you'll love the second CD. It's simply amazing. It is by far the most listened to CD in my collection. The first CD is totally different, however. I don't listen to it much, but it isn't bad, just a lot darker; and, well, different. I suppose someone else might think the first CD amazing and the second CD just ok. I don't think too many people would find them both favorites because of how different they are.

In any case, it is certainly worth getting if you can find it cheaper than here ($35 is an awful lot to be satisfied with one CD...).

3.0 out of 5 stars Piccotto and Lange? Metallica and Backstreet Boys?, June 9, 2000
This review is from: Tranceformer 2000 (Audio CD)
It's year 2000, and if you're still buying compilations of trance music, prepare to be ripped off and get about half of what you pay for. When Tranceformer 2000 is in question, you must choose such half. But choose wisely - pinning Mauro Piccotto's dark, clubby mediterranean house with Lange's light, melodic dance is like having Metallica tour together with Backstreet Boys. Mauro delivers an mix of house with a distinctive deep hard edge that whirls into non-stop energy throughout the album, with notable tracks like "Imperiale", "Lizard", and "Kernkraft 400" leading the pack. His refreshing mix of "Out of the Blue" finishes the really interesting part of the album. After that, standard issue tracks like "Goureyella" and "Better Off Alone" spoil the fun of discovering the new, but keep up the beat nevertheless. Lange, on the other hand, appeals to your sensitive side with vocals and melodies of "I Believe" and "Toca Me", trying to do so with a monotonous beat and some really old mixing moves. And some of us would like to be explained to, what the heck are the cheesy "Bullet in a Gun", "Escape", and "New York City Boy" doing on a CD released at the end of 1999? Give it up, Lange - your sensitivity training just isn't going to fly. Mauro rules, you don't, and if you don't like it, consider that Mauro's fans get enough energy out of his mix to beat your fans up. Even though the set may be worth buying to listen to Piccotto's half.
