Thomerson, Hunt and more back for second installment....,
This review is from: Trancers II (DVD)
While not nearly as creative or enjoyable as the first entry in the series, "Trancers II" still provides an hour and a half on fun entertainment. While completely faithful to the original in terms of character and plot, the story isn't as dark and gritty. Instead, Jack Deth (played by the excellent Tim Thomerson) is living happily with his wife Lena (Helen Hunt) in present day Los Angeles. Their life is interrupted when brother of original film villain Whister, Dr. Wardo (Richard Lynch) begins conducting trancer experiments to regenerate the zombie-like creatures. Sent back in time to stop this is Jack's first wife Alice (Megan Ward), who complicates matters with his current marriage by again falling in love with the future cop. In the end, they join together to destroy the trancers and their evil creator. The DVD presented here by Echo Bridge Entertainment is basically the same transfer provided by Full Moon Entertainment years ago. It is a pan and scan, 4.33:1 print that contains a little amount of grain. It looks like a good quality VHS transfer at best. If also contains the same Videozone "Making of" feature that is present on the earlier DVD. The film is a good continuation from the previous film and makes for a fun evening, but if you already own the Full Moon DVD, this isn't a must have, unless you are after the new DVD cover art, which is much nicer than the earlier releases'.

The Future Cop Is Back...!!!!!!!!,
By Michael Fleishman (Hauppauge, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trancers 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Los Angeles, 1991. It's been six years since Jack Deth (TIM THOMERSON) eliminated the last of the Trancers-those zombie-like creatures whose mission is murder. Jack has rebuilt his life in the present with his new wife Lena (HELEN HUNT) and has gotten rich in his commodities dealings with his old buddy Hap Ashby (BIFF MANARD), an ex-baseball hero. Now Jack's got that funny feeling again...he knows the Trancers are back. And there's more in store for him: Jack's first wife Alice Stillwell (MEGAN WARD),whom he thought dead, has been sent "down the line" to the present to help fight the new wave of Trancers. But she's lost somewhere in Los Angeles and Jack must find her. At the same time he must find and destroy Dr. Wardo (RICHARD LYNCH) the new leader of the deadly gang. Get ready for the ride of your life. TRANCERS II...it's the return of Jack Deth.

Trancers--B grade Scifi Goodness,
By
This review is from: Trancers 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've had to defend my love of the "Trancers" series to friends and colleagues. It has bad special effects (which worsen as the series matures), often bad technical filming (notice the rampant close-ups in Trancers 2), and the situations are often ridiculous. Still, somehow, it rules. Tim Thomerson plays a great hard-boiled detective, chomping on his cigarettes, shooting first and asking questions later. You also get choice dialogue bits like:"Damnit McNolte! Next time someone hands you an exploding ham, I'm gonna pass the mustard!" His wife from the future's mind has been sent down the line into the body of a 16 year old girl that Thomerson's character keeps making out with (C'mon the guy is pushing 50). Helen Hunt, his modern day wife in the film keeps catching them together, and Jack Deth is torn between them. To all that add bad-Makeup Zombies, a naturalist cult in the woods, killing bad guys with pitchforks, guns, a 60 year old booze hound paying winos to play a baseball game with him, a long second watch, and a classic corvette. I give you: Trancers 2.
