I purchased this stove for a solo bike tour I took because it was small. I was very impressed with its capabilities and size. Plus the entire kit nests into the pot. Does not work very good with Iso-Alcohol as I tested and rarely would a flame burn longer than a minute. Methyl Alcohol is ideal but I decided to try using Heet (a gas line anti-freeze) based on some suggestions I read online. It worked fantastic and was a bit more convenient than purchasing a vat of Methyl Alcohol. This setup also comes with the simmer ring which give you a little control of the output and can also be used to extinguish the stove. At first I thought the pot holder would be flimsy but it is more than adequate.

awesome March 2, 2009
One of my best purchases. Rock solid. Entire cook kit weighs 11.6 oz
and everything (burner, wind screen / pot stand, pot handle) fits in the bowl.
Teflon coated skillet is the lid. And if you're really weight conscious
replace the brass burner with aluminum to get down to 8oz.

Can store fuel in the stove so for a short trip where you're
only cooking once can just fill it up and not take a fuel bottle.

Pot is grooved so it fits on the stand and won't fall off on un-level
surfaces.

Simmer ring to knock the flame back.

Just a really well designed system.

It does the job! April 4, 2009
I do have other Stoves with more power and faster boil times, but I do like the simplicity of ease and operation, the 28 has as with all the Trangia systems most everything you need, just open it up and start cooking, lid/skillet, bowl/pot, burner, stand/mini windsheild, it will simmer, just takes some getting use to, as with all things you should expermint with at home before going off camping, lots of fun and the onlyy noise you will likely hear is the water boiling or the sauce bubbling, have fun.
Have had mine about 5 years

Good stove!
I bought this stove for hiking (it's portable to an extreme) and as a backup stove in an emergency. It can burn a long time on easy access fuels, such as alcohol!

Design flaw?
It's not the lightest, not the heaviest either. Works as well as any alcohol stove. Cute, but, problem is that the windscreen is taller than the pot so when storing items, the... Read more
