We have used this sound machine every night for 4 1/2 years. Our daughter can't sleep without it. We use it ourselves if one of us wants to take a nap while others are at home and awake. After all that use, the only physical problem we're having is sometimes we have to wiggle the AC adapter to make it work. No big deal really. The biggest problem with this sound machine is that if you turn the volume all the way up, it has that weird crackling sound that you get when a speaker is maxed out. That sound grates on my nerves. I don't turn it all the way up, but my husband and daughter do. The only sound we use now is the white noise. We experimented with all the other sounds when our daughter was a baby. Only the white noise sound is really effective at blocking out household noises, and only if it's all the way up. I definitely recommend a white noise machine for anybody who has trouble sleeping, just maybe not this one.

Bought this only for the white noise feature, which is way to quiet (even on the loudest setting) to block out normal household noises. The Conair is much louder so we switched back to that.

I've been using this for my now 3.5 year old daughter since she was about a month old. It's portable between home and grandparents when needed, and when we've traveled by air the sound of the plane's engines would put her right to sleep. I recommend this to everyone I know having a baby.
Also, if I need to wake up my little one all I have to do is turn this off, and she wakes herself right up!
