5.0 out of 5 stars trans the hidden masterpiece, August 19, 2001

Few films ever made can induce such an internal uprising of mental stimulation as Trans does. This is a film that will never tire or bore you after time. It is like a book in the sense that you are able to read the tv screen and interpret that information into something beyond the film. This is the films purpose I believe. To instill a constantly changing forum of evolutionary life into the hearts and minds of those willing to make the journey. Julien Goldberger is a director whose boundaries lie untold and his artistry will hopefully inspire the film industry to move beyond the constrictive pallet it has become.

Hello readers. For those of you looking to buy the smash movie
"Trans" I've got news for you. I am the singer/ writer of its
theme song "Baby D." This is one of the greatest moives of all time, it's right there next to "The Matrix". It has been a few years since being in the movie. However it has lost none of its amazing influence on my life. I strongly recomend this movie to anyone having questions about the world or their life. I guarantee that "Trans" will change your life forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good I am ordering the DVD (already have the tape), August 28, 2001

All I can say is WOW. After tiring of the same old Summer Blockbuster garbage films (you know, the film bites but it made 300 mil at the box office so it must be a success) it was nice to see a refreshing original non-formulated film. I picked this film up on VHS at Blockbuster and am pre-ordering the DVD I liked it so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ryan Daugherty is very OK with us, April 23, 2003

This is a very good movie, mostly due to the luscious dance moves of our eccentric young convict, Ryan Daugherty. My friend and I picked this up at Blockbuster on a whim and were very pleased. We would like to add, "That's some very nice corn you have there." If you are Ryan Daugherty, please marry us. We won't make you hit on strange bus ticket men...but we might make you do the supermarket dance and the little cowboy dance for the rest of your life. To sum up, the movie is wonderful and we would like to have Ryan Daugherty's children. Thanks, that's all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trans - expanding the horizons of film production, August 5, 2001

I'm very excited this film will be available on DVD/VHS. I've been looking for this all over and I can't wait to get my hands on it. This film stunned me from start to finish. Utilizing a hand held camcorder as its main medium and tossing in actual bystanders as contributors to the film itself, Julian Goldberger throws out the rule book and establishes his own feel of an underappreciated genre, independent film. Trans focuses on juvenile convict Ryan Kosinski, who escapes from a militaristic prison for young criminals and embarks on an eerie journey through the state of Florida, visiting old friends, hitch hiking, fleeing from the authorities and even hi-jacking a private jet. With innovative camera work and editing techniques combined with a simple yet entertaining plot, Trans will maintain your interest throughout and many times over in the future.

I think this is one of the best films i ever saw so far. I saw this movie last night at the sundance movie channel. I remember my girlfriend talking about this movie a while back, (my girlie really likes indie films) and she said it was really good. so when they showed it last night, i watched it. you know how sometimes movies just touch you in a strange way? i know that this movie said something about myself. So, i just wanna give props to the director Julian Goldberger and the casts! Awesome film!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trans...one worth owning!, August 6, 2001
This review is from: Trans (DVD)
I've seen this movie several times, once on Sundance Channel, when I taped it, and the tape itself. It is a visually exciting experience, along with an incredible soundtrack and creative editing. "Trans" is a film that is pretty different from the Hollywood 1 1/2 hour easily digestible movie, and offbeat, and you may need another viewing of the film to comprehend it (I did). This is one worth owning on DVD, because of its great soundtrack, and its incredible atmospherics. It has awesome cinematography, and would look incredible in a DVD format. "Trans" is definetely a movie to buy if you have watched it before and know you like it. It is a movie for all of the senses, and one that will stay with you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Astonishing, December 11, 2009
By
Duncan Murphy "Porn Dude" (Southern California, USA) - See all my reviews

This is a gem of a movie. Atmospheric, intensely lyrical, filled with emotion and longing.

There is not much to the plot -- a young teenager escapes from juvenile detention and he meets a lot of people. It is a cinematic poem in much the same way Cocteau's films are poems. The sights, the sounds, the music, the dialog, the structure, everything is carefully crafted but appears so casual and effortless, as though the filmmaker simply happened upon this teen and filmed his life for 24 hours.

It is a very intimate, quiet movie. Don't expect explosions or punches to the gut. It makes its point not so much in what it says, but in what it doesn't say. The viewer, particularly a patient viewer, will find much here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trans - A Killer soundtrack!, January 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Trans [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I can't really add alot more to what these excellent reviewers have already said, except....

the movie is worth seeing just to hear the great soundtrack. Take a listen to "Baby Dee" by The Mondal Family - talk about
ORIGINAL sound!

I agree with everything the other reviewers said. I liked the movie alot. I like these indie movies that have that "dark" feeling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sundance knows how to pick good films., August 6, 2001

Just finished watching "Trans" and enjoyed the grainy backwater Florida scenery as much as the gritty look at youth, class, and masculinity on the run, where meaning is always-elsewhere; whereas pain is very much here, in the immediate present.
