5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to TSO collection.
I'm no music connoisseur but I am a TSO fan. Got this CD as a gift and am thrilled. Its a relaxing holiday CD, makes great background music for work office or home gathering during the holidays. Love it and would buy it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tribute? Not Even Close!
This is like listening to a bad piano recital! The piano is banged on all through the album. There is absolutely no expression from this performer. Not worth the shipping much less the price of the CD

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't even get past the samples!, October 17, 2007
This review is from: Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas Piano [Tribute] (Audio CD)
Look, TSO is incredible, and I guess that this album just proves the old cliche about imitation being the highest form of flattery, but I just can't see myself buying this tribute when I can listen to the originals. Even listening to the samples ratchets up my desire to break out the TSO albums (not until AFTER Thanksgiving...must restrain myself). Nice try, though.

In the meantime, I guess all that's left to be said is WE WANT NIGHT CASTLE!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Would the REAL TSO please stand up?!?!?!, October 10, 2007
This review is from: Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas Piano [Tribute] (Audio CD)
Buyers beware... These are not orginal Trans-Siberian Orchestra Recordings! (They may sound similar because they are the same musical arrangement.) If you really want some amazing, intense, and utterly brilliant music... Buy the Originals! :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars I love TSO and the piano but this is just short of a scam, January 31, 2009
This is the worst CD I have ever heard in my life.

What you are hearing are keyboard sounds of a piano. Worst than that- they aren't performances! They are quantized MIDI triggered sounds coming from a computer which is why the music doesn't sound emotional and instead comes off sounding retarded. For instance- there is no tone nor volume difference between soft and loud sections, and the trills sound like distant machine guns. I am shocked that such an album would ever be released- and whoever did this knows how embarrassing it is because they didn't even credit themselves (or they didn't want to get sued).

Copycat Records is obviously trying to sell you the idea that this is a TSO album due to using TSO's name and by having the artwork appear identical to other TSO releases. I checked the TSO website and noticed that they don't mention this album under their discography link. If you are still interested in buying, make sure you check out all the samples first!

2.0 out of 5 stars Someone..., November 25, 2008
...with a midi keyboard and an axe to grind against TSO put out this monstrosity, and they must be stopped before they do it again.

Apparently, this person or group got the TSO song book, tapped out the songs as flatly as the score allows, and slapped a label on it hoping to get some cross-over sales.

Don't give them that satisfaction.

1.0 out of 5 stars Average piano playing, December 18, 2007
This review is from: Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas Piano [Tribute] (Audio CD)
It makes no sense to release this unless you're an average piano player who wants to see just how gullable the public is. Don't waste your time or money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great music, mediocre pianist, December 1, 2008

(REAL NAME)
As is obvious from the real Trans-Siberian Orchestra's performances, the music is great. But not when played mechanically and emotionlessly. If this music was played by a real person, rather than generated by a computer, it is obvious that pianist never mastered such concepts as dynamics and styling. While it does work very well for background music, if you plan on actually listening to the music....I suggest you look elsewhere. If you want Christmas music by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, get some of their CDs. If you want Christmas music played on a piano, look for music put out by a real pianist. Trans-Siberian Orchestra's music knocked off by a poor quality pianist just doesn't have the same effect.

The only people who should be allowed to play Trans-Siberian Orchestra music are those in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is NOT the Trans-Siberian Orchestra!!!!!!, December 18, 2007
This piece is performed by some "tribute" group, not the actual TSO. I cannot believe Amazon charges $0.89 for a track from some high-school-caliber piano players!!!! Watch out for "tributes" and "karaoke" versions of songs, they are ALL OVER the Amazon song download site. In fact, even songs by the original artists are sometimes remakes or non-standard versions. It's hard to even find an actual song by an actual artist with the familiar radio cut. BEWARE!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, bad result., November 30, 2009

Translating TSO music into strictly piano would bring a new and interesting element to TSO. Unfortunatly the artist or artists who produced this CD used little imagination in composing their tribute. It sounds like an electronic keyboard was used for most of the recordings rather than a baby grand or upright piano. Using multiple musicians on several different pianos would have made this a remarkable CD. Instead it seems this was a quickly produced piece more to draw on the popularity of TSO music rather than be a respecfull tribute to it.
