Kate Cohen-Posey (Author)

Book Description

1994
Inner peace is a birthright everyone deserves to have. TRANS-FORMATION makes this possible through a series of 24 exercises that move readers inward to reach deep levels of relaxation and an understanding of how to use trance states to solve life problems. The need for audio tapes is eliminated by learning a "self-talk" that promotes stress-free serenity. The book addresses problems with sleep, stress, blood pressure, allergy attacks, sexual fulfillment, self-esteem and more. "When you consciously put yourself in a trance, you become connected to your SELF, awesome in its power, yet so still that its presence is easily missed." (PG. 18)

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Kate Cohen-Posey in an up-and-coming author in the field of self-help psychology literature. After the success of her second book and being sought by a major New York publisher to write a book for their best-selling practice planner series, we've reissued this most useful text on relaxation skills, meditation and self-hypnosis.

From the Author

I first studied hypnosis in 1978 to enrich my skills as a mental health counselor. In the early 1990's I returned to my formal study of trance. After years of independent study and practice many questions came to my mind-- What is the connection between the right brain and subconscious? What actually happens during trance? What physical changes take place? How are meditation and hypnosis related?

As I began to use hypnosis more with myself, I found help for long-standing difficulty with sleep and clear directions on how to deal with life's petty problems. The same phenomenon was reflected in my office. My clients no longer seemed to be people with problems, but, rather, wise persons with a great depth of understanding about life.

Whenever I've found useful information for clients, I've enjoyed writing it in a short, easy-to-read handout. Trans-Formation began as a set of instructions for clients to use to practice going into trance. But the more I wrote, the more I began to find answers to questions that previously puzzled me about hypnosis. Incorporating them into this text turned a handout into a book.

Although trance should never be completely demystified, I hope my discoveries can make it less intimidating to people who want to make use of its benefits and to therapists who are uneasy about using hypnosis with their clients even after proper training. As with everything else I write, Trans-formation attempts to reduce volumes that could be said about this subject to golden nuggets of information and instruction. Although brief, I hope Trans-formation adds new understanding to an ancient art.

More About the Author

Kate Cohen-Posey's call to counseling began with listening to her mother grieve the death of a dashing fiancee. Her official MS degree was awarded in 1973 and she soon began to practice in Florida. Driven by a desire to provide clients concise information she started writing booklets. By a near miracle John Wiley & Sons discovered these thera-tracts, called her, and said, "We think you're the author we need." This proposal birthed 4 books: "Brief Therapy Client Handouts," "More Brief Therapy Client Handouts," "Empowering Dialogues Within," and "Making Hostile Words Harmless." Booklist, citing her book, "How to Handle Bullies, Teasers, and Other Meanies," agrees she is an author of necessity.
