Dolly is amazing on this CD!,

I didn't see this movie but I hope to. I purchased this CD because I am a big Dolly Parton fan. And Dolly does not disappoint on this CD. She sings the theme song "Travelin' Thru" and it is amazing, and I am certain it will become one of her newest hits. I also really enjoyed all the other tracks on the CD. One of my other favorites was "I Find Jesus" by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I look forward to seeing this movie soon and hearing all these wonderful tracks.

Great - Like the Film,

I loved Transamerica, and thought Felicity Huffman was excellent.
But another major aspect of this film is the music. All the selections work so well. I especially like Take 'Em Away - from the scene where they are coming into the young man's hometown. This is a great CD, not only as a soundtrack to a great film, but it also stands on its own.

The best song nobody heard,
By
This review is from: Transamerica (Audio CD)
If you never saw the movie you didn't hear the song. If you did see the movie you might not have hear it. It was played over the final credits....a huge mistake! Most people got up and left before the song started. Dolly Parton put heart and soul into this song. It is truely life affirming. The lyrics will give strenght to anyone who has had a tough time. The album follows the movie's sequence, so the two favorites are at the end. The music in the movie does not use all of each song. However the album plays them out to completion. If you liked the movie...buy the album....if you like Dolly Parton...buy the album. I liked the movie, now I am a Dolly fan. This was the best original song of 2005 and I don't care what the Oscars say.

Great soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Transamerica (Audio CD)
As many other reviewers have stated, this is a great soundtrack, and here we will have to include the dreaded word.....
.... 'but'.... It is very frustrating to watch a movie and enjoy the soundtrack so much that you want to go straight out and purchase it, but you discover that there are important elements missing. While there is a strong 'country' feel, there are also several latin songs in the movie that are not included in the soundtrack. These occur in the restaurant that Bree works in, and they added an important flavour to the mix. For example, a song by the actor Patricio Castillo that was recorded specifically for the film and is not available on any other disc, a song by the legendary Mexican singer Lola Beltran and one by the group Los Pamperos. It makes you wonder why dialogue is included while these songs are not. Is it a matter of money ? I'm sure anyone interested enough to buy the soundtrack would like it to be complete. One Dolly Parton song does not a soundtrack recording make. Well, for this reviewer, anyway. Three stars for the good stuff that is there, minus two stars for the important stuff that is missing.

Lucinda Williams song "Like A Rose" is filled with so much meaning and emotion and it is just beautiful. It is one the most peaceful and touching songs I have ever heard. I highly reccomend listening to it.

A soundtrack that actually is a soundtrack,
By Robert Fearon (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Transamerica (Audio CD)
I really liked the Transamerica soundtrack. Like most people, I usually buy a film's soundtrack after having enjoyed the music in the film. In the past, I've bought soundtracks that don't have any songs that actually featured in the movie. The Transamerica soundtrack had many songs from the film, which was pleasing.
I've never really been a country/bluegrass/gospel fan, but I think I might give these genres a try because I really enjoyed the music on this CD. I especially liked the song by Duncan Sheik, "I Am A Pilgrim", and Dolly Parton's "Travilin' Thru". I also liked the fact that a number of David Mansfield's score pieces appeared on the CD. All in all, it was a very good CD, and if you liked the movie, you'll definitely like the soundtrack (even if you've never listened to country in your life)!

Missing music?,

This is a wonderful soundtrack. However, I usually buy soundtracks based on what I've head in a movie....where is the song "Soy Infeliz"? This is such a beautiful song (also featured in the movie Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown). I subtract one star for missing one of the most beautiful songs in the movie.

Delightful,
This review is from: Transamerica (Audio CD)
Yes, us Transwomen (24/7) have an intereting life. I teach in a community college and have written seven books and seven TV shows in my other life...it is interesting when my students discover my books and see me on tv. I related to this film.
