I'm sure this is an excellent DVD, but Amazon has the region listing wrong, this will not play in the USA, it is listed as a region 1, but it is actually a PAL region 2 DVD. I ordered this 2 times, thinking the first one was defective, but it was the same as the first one.

If you look at the listing for Transatlantic Sessions 3 (2008), you will see this has the same problem-read reviews.
I called Amazon on this and the said they would look into it, but nothing has happened.

Living on the other side of the pond, I fortunately have no problems with the format.

I am going broke buying all of these series. They are simply phenomenally good. Not all songs were to my taste, but most of them were, and all without exception were splendidly done. The one that really fascinated me was Dan Tyminski singing the AKUS number "The boy who wouldn't hoe corn" to an extraordinary mixed bluegrass/Celtic backing. Dan was clearly enjoying it all and at one point said to the camera, "I gotta think of a reason to stay here!" Jerry Douglas and Aly Bain manage the whole business with considerable aplomb. The girls singing in Scottish Gaelic, Julie Fowlis and Karen Matheson, were another revelation - I can't understand a single word they sang, but it sounded so great that I'm already looking at CDs of these ladies. As I said, this whole Transatlantic Sessions business is going to impoverish me...

I bought a copy of this as a gift for my parents. They have up-to-date DVD players, and it wouldn't play for them. They had to connect a laptop to their widescreen to view it. The picture quality was good, but they shouldn't have had this problem.

The video arrived quickly. Thanks.
This series was not aired in USA but should have been.
Wonderful mix of US and British musicians.
