4.0 out of 5 stars HUGE but s l o w..., January 28, 2007
This review is from: Transcend 8GB SDHC Card (Electronics)
Note: Though this is definitely the card I ordered, the one that arrived wasn't labeled as 'transcend' but as 'topram'. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I bought this card to go with my new Treo 680. (Note, the other review is incorrect as, although the capacity will not read correctly (it maxes out at 4GB), the card will still work fine with newer Palm Treo products, and can be patched to work with others -- do a websearch for more). I like me some media, and had already filled a 2GB card with music, movie, and TV shows, and really wanted something bigger.

This card fit the bill perfectly. I've got about 5GB on it already, and it plays all the music and video files very well via pTunes and TCMP.

The only downside is that the card is *very* slow to write to, and incredibly slow to delete from. The card reader which came with it approaches bearable, but trying to delete from within the Treo itself is so slow I avoid it whenever possible.

Still, 8GB at this price is incredible.

UPDATE: I reformatted the card via command-line to use 32k block size, and this seems to have improved speed for large-sized files (music, videos, etc.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent High Capacity SDIO SD Card, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Transcend 8GB SDHC Card (Electronics)
I just loaded this into my Treo 680 and it works great. Of course this is the only palm device that currently supports 8gb SDIO (Secure Digital Input/Output) Cards. It works just like the 2gb 1gb and 512 I've used in the past. It will not work in every Secure Digital friendly device. Check to see if your device is SDIO compliant. I can confidently recommend this card.

4.0 out of 5 stars 60 minutes of full motion video on one SD card!, September 27, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Transcend 8GB SDHC Card (Electronics)
I love the space! I can get 60 minutes of full motion video (640x480) on this one 8gb card. I video tape volleyball matches and this makes it possible for me to not have to keep switching cards out of my camera. The only issue I have with it is that it will not read in any of my PC's, PhotoBank or even in my Dell Axim. The card is simply not recognized at all since it is an SDHC card. I can only download the video into my PC through my camera (Canon Powershot S5 IS). I also purchased a 4gb Transcend SD card and that card does read in my PC's, PhotoBank and Dell Axim. Apparently there are special jump drives out there that can read the SDHC cards but I haven't researched it yet. However, I still love the the ability to shoot an hour of video without having to change out the card!

5.0 out of 5 stars SD & SDHC Compatibility Issues, August 6, 2007
This review is from: Transcend 8GB SDHC Card (Electronics)
I bought a Pentax k100d DSLR and a 4GB SDHC card.Initially the card would not work in the camera or in my card reader. Fortunately Pentax has a firmware fix for the problem but I had to buy an SDHC card reader for my desktop. Below is a quote from Wikipedia. There is a great explanation of SD & SDHC cards at this site. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card#SD_and_SDHC_compatibility_issues

"As of early 2007, the simultaneous availability of non-standard 4GB SD and 4GB SDHC cards, and incompatibilities between SD and SDHC have caused confusion among various consumers looking to buy memory devices.

The following compatibility issues between SD and SDHC cards and devices can arise:

* Devices that do not specifically support SDHC do not recognize SDHC memory cards.

* Some manufacturers have produced 4GB SD cards that conform to neither the SD2.0/SDHC spec nor existing SD device"

Great Price, Works Pefectly!

Remember this is an SDHC card, so your SD card reader on your computer may not be able to read it. You may have to always use your camera to download the files or buy a seperate SDHC USB card reader (usually around $10).

1.0 out of 5 stars locked up my pc, April 16, 2009
This review is from: Transcend 8GB SDHC Card (Electronics)
I bought a new Canon REBEL EOS, and a few accessories, one being a Transcend 8gb card. It works in both my cameras, and the other cards work in both. The Transcend 8gb freezes the screen every time it is inserted in to the reader slot on my pc. I tried it in my wife's pc and same thing happened. I cannot download any photos from it. There are photos to view on the card, and I can stick it in my A-560 and view it, but that's it.No stars untill I can get another and see if that does what it should.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Case!, October 31, 2008
By
This review is from: Transcend 8GB SDHC Card (Electronics)
As had been noted by another reviewer, the picture on Amazon clearly shows a case for the card, but the package I received did not have the case. Other than that, what is there to say about a Flash card. It works, so I have no other complaints.
