Transdermal magnesium....A totally new concept,
By Marly (Florida) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
I first read Carolyn Dean's book The Miracle of Magnesium and she touches on the concept of the
Transdermal Magnesium delivery. This means soaking in a magnesium "oil" or spraying it on the body for more complete absorption. The subject peaked my curiosity because I suffer from Chronic Lyme disease and recently read that one of the major nutrients being drained from all Lymes sufferers IS magnesium.. All I can say is that this book is a whole new concept....and most people would never on their own figure out that their health problems could possibly be linked to low magnesium levels...but take away just this one concept from this book. If you are truly ultra deficient in magnesium, the irony is that you can no longer effectively absorb magnesium from oral supplementation. This leaves people like me walking around deficient, with muscular and neuro issues and no amount of magnesium that I ingest is helpful anymore. The Transdermal concept is this: It's magnesium oil...Not really oil but a liquid that has been extracted from sea water where the magnesium has been concentrated. Spray magnesium "oil" on the skin and miraculously, it's absorbed. Magnesium levels go up in the body...The book cites a doctor who had diabetes and could not absorb magnesium until he took massive doses for a whole year...The transdermal approach is far quicker...can be accomplished with even a foot bath...or the magnesium oil can be put in a bathtub and you literally soak the magnesium into your body. I'm not saying this is a Lyme disease cure....but it doesn't take much to read a small list of magnesium deficient conditions to find the average person seriously low. We've been told to take lots of calcium. Read this book and understand why the concept isn't completely understood...Magnesium relaxes the muscles and calcium tightens the muscle. Ever hear of muscle "spasm'? How about low magnesium being responsible....Not sleeping well? Magnesium is required to get calcium into the body properly. Finding calcium added to everything we eat...orange juice, cereals and suddenly, it's easy for everyone to be overly calcified and very low in magnesium.. This book was a major eye opener for me....I really believe it should be required reading for doctors and people suffering from everything like PMS, high blood pressure, aches, pains, headaches...to the really difficult to treat issues like mine.. chronic Lymes which has become neurological and painful in my muscles and nerves. I have only used the magnesium oil for a few days....but what I learned in this book really was profoundly important. I have seen slight relief but I think this is going to take a few months before I can say for sure that I've made progress. I recommend this book VERY highly! And if there were more stars to attribute to this book, I'd gladly go higher than 5!

Everyone needs to read this book!,
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
This type of mineral therapy is so new that the book is not yet in most of the health food stores. It is easy to read and the author builds a powerful case for the need for more magnesium and especially transdermal supplementation. Using the oil has almost completely stopped my heart atrial irregularity problem. The public needs to be aware of this aid to young and old alike and make their own decisions after reading the book.

Magnesium is essential for good health, but most Americans are deficient.,
By D. R. Schryer (Poquoson, VA United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
For far too many years the mineral magnesium has been largely overlooked as a nutrient which is essential for good health. Most doctors and laboratories don't even include magnesium status in routine blood tests. Thus, most doctors don't know when their patients are deficient in magnesium, even though studies show that the majority of Americans are deficient in magnesium. And magnesium deficiency is very important. In fact, magnesium deficiency is a significant factor -- often the major factor -- in many severe illnesses including heart attacks and other forms of heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, fatigue, diabetes, migraines and other headaches, osteoporosis, insomnia, and most cases of muscular problems. Because magnesium deficiency is largely overlooked, millions of Americans suffer needlessly from the foregoing ailments or are having their symptoms treated with expensive drugs (which often have unpleasant or dangerous side effects) when they could be cured with magnesium supplementation. I commend Mark Sirus for this book discussing the importance of magnesium and detailing transdermal magnesium therapy. However, I also highly recommend Dr. Carolyn Dean`s excellent new book The Magnesium Miracle which also discusses many important aspects of magnesium supplementation including oral supplementation with more readilly available and highly absorbable chelated magnesium, which is the form I take.

Not Much Information on the Transdermal Method,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
I bought this book specifically to learn more about applying magnesium oil topically to raise magnesium levels in the body. Given the title, I thought that the whole book would be devoted to that topic, which was incorrect. This book offers good general information on magnesium and disease states/conditions that seem to result from low magnesium levels, but there is very little information specifically on the transdermal application of magnesium, in fact, less than 10% of the book.
If you want to read a somewhat technical book that fully covers magnesium, related disease states in great detail, and the different methods of using magnesium, which includes the transdermal approach, then you will probably find this book helpful.

Everybody has health problems, and the pharmaceutical industry is a big hammer on both doctors and patients through all their marketing programs and dollars. But one thing--magnesium deficiency--may well be at the root of all the health problems out there. This book, so well written and well documented with copious end notes for each chapter, can be a life saver for millions. Read it, get magnesium oil, and start taking charge of your own health and quit being disciples of the medical industry, who neither know of or care about the miracles offered by magnesium. Do yourself the biggest favor in the world: buy and read Dr. Sircus's book--and get Dr. Dean's as well!

An additional mineral for optimum health,
By
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
I found this book interesting and well written. I am a 5 year post colon cancer survivor. I have been researching over the past 5 years due to a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis of which I thought was due to the chemotherapy treatment. I have made my research my hobby and try desperately not to annoy folks with my unsolicited rattle about healthy living. This book was fun to read and validated the many various books on health issues I have read in the past and continue to read. I have proudly place this book in my reference library! I have purchased the Magnesium oil that is mentioned in this book or on the website and use it regularly. I have massaged it into my 16 year old son's joints that have been slightly injured from his school athletics. He also experiences spring pollen allergies and I have massaged it into his lymph nodes on his neck to help alleviate his symptoms. I noted a testimony in the book that spraying it under your arms helps stop smelling. This is a plus, because I do not use deodorant with aluminum for health reasons and it is hard to find one without aluminum that WORKS! I put my normal deodorant on then spray the magnesium oil - no stinging and no smell. I use the magnesium oil on my face and I love my complexion. I don't use foundation (makeup) because of the chemicals - so complexion is an issue. It stings a little so I use it very lightly. I highly recommend this book. Although I am just an interested lay person (not a physician or healthcare worker what so ever), I found this book crediable and clinically sound based on comparision of other many books I have read on the subject. Happy reading!

Anxiety And Magnesium Oil,
By drmyi "st jeromes" (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
I haven't read the book but I heard the author on the radio
talking with Dr Allen Pressman. If it was with anyone other than Pressman I doubt I would have purchased the oil. As far as I'm concerned Pressman is the man as many in Hollywood found out years ago. I've been on a pill and powder regime for six months with him with only some progress. I bought his brand of the oil and had it sitting on the shelf for some reason. I have a big case of paralyzing anxiety. I figured since I bought the stuff I might as well use it. I put it on my kidneys, neck and shoulders. I immediately felt better walking on the street, much better. The first thing that entered my mind was, wow, Pressman's pills are finally starting to kick in. Except when I forgot to put the oil on Pressman's pills did not work as well. I almost don't believe it. If fact I still don't believe it. I will check back in a couple of weeks for the my final word on this. I have been fooled before by taking things that shock the system and then wear off. It doesn't cure anything but, if it does anything, it returns the body to a functioning whole by sending the magnesium straight to the blood bypassing the digestive track. I had to wait 30 freaking yrs to find it. Hope it lasts. I don't/can't believe it. And no, I don't know the author.

Transdermal Magnesium Therapy,
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
I recommend this book to anyone whose health is less than 100% perfect, or who knows someone who's health is less than 100% perfect.
There is alot of valuable information in this book.Mark gives you the information and also backs it up with a multitude of references. Mark Sircus is an amazing person, and his passion is for truth in medicine(something we don't get much of here in the US). If you connect with this book, or if you want to find out more about his work, search on the internet for him.You most likely will be pleasantly surprised.

Outstanding,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
This is a most thorough look at the systemic (whole body) health benefits of magnesium therapy. Magnesium needs to be balanced with its synergistic cofactors (other minerals it works in cooperation with) such as calcium, vitamin D, boron, zinc, and maganese. While magnesium is a msucle relaxant, calcium is a muscle contractant. The two minerals are antagonists and the body needs a 1 to 1 ratio of magnesium to calcium to function optimally, not the 2 to 1 ratio given by most health professionals. Many doctors give high doses of calcium (1,000-1,200 mg) with a small amount of vitamin D and no magnesium, which can render the calcium unusable, prevent it from being absorbed into the bones and even cause bone spurs. The other necessary vitamins and minerals are also needed in their proper amounts to enable each other to do their specific tasks. You not only need vitamin D, which doctors are now advocating to produce health, you also need the right amount of magnesium.
Even though doctors are now recommending Vitamin D supplementation, the RDA for D is way to low. The RDA's for vitamin D were set down many years ago, before all the latest studies had been done. The RDA was set at a level that would prevent rickets in children, not at a dose that would maintain optimal health in chilcren, much less adults. The same is true of the RDa's for magnesium and many other vitamins and minerals. You need from 500-600 mg of supplemental magnesium along with an equal dose of calcium a day. Also, if you have been taking large doses of calcium and no magnesium you may need more magnesium than calcium for a short period. You need at least 1,200 IU of vitamin D per day. Dark skinned people need even higher doeses of vitamin D. You also need to be eating a healthy diet and obtaining a portion of your minerals and other nutrients from your food. Junk food, white flour and sugar products, fried food of any kind, etc. are depleted of nutrients and can't produce optimal health no matter how many and how high a quality supplements you take. The author recommends transdermal magnesium therapy, because it goes right into the blood stream and is taken to all parts of the body to be used. Also, many folks do not absorb oral supplements well. Some authors on the subject of vitamins and minerals tout a vegeterian or vegan diet which is unhealthy for many reasons. 1) You can not get EPA & DHA, which are found primarily in cold water fish on a vegan or vegeterian diet. EPA and DHA are brain food. Our bodies cells must have them to function properly. 2) As the main source of it is found in meat, you cannot get B12 on a vergan diet and it is difficult to get it on a vegeterian one. You don't need large amounts of B12, but without it you will be unhealthy. After being on a vegan diet for over a year, my husband and I had our B12 levels checked. They were depleted. Don't say thay you can get your B12 from nutritional yeast. Unlike the B12 in animal products the B12 in nutritional yeast is an analoq, which is unusable by the body. You also can't get B12 from plant based supplements. You only get B12 from animal products. 3) All of your fat soluable vitamins, which are essential for health, are found mainly in animal products. One author author even promotes a high protein, low fat and almost no carbohydrate eating plan, which is no more healthy than a vegaan diet. Our Creator made us to function on carbohydrates, proteins and fats. While certain people do better on more carbs and less fat, more protein and fat and less carbs or a mix of carbs, protein and fat, we need all three groups of nutrients to be healthy. This author doesn't do this. I very much like the authros philosophy on health. Along with the author, I am trully impressed by the ability of the vitamins, minerals, etc. that our Creator made to sustain us to produce optimal health and even turn around disease conditions. This is so contrary to the many side affects of all the prescription drugs on the market. Necessary nutrients strengthen your immune system to fight disease, while allopathic drugs poison your system, as they deplete you body of the nutrients it needs to heal.

I give this book six stars or more!,
By Book Reviewer (Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Transdermal Magnesium Therapy (Paperback)
Wow! This is the book to read if you are interested in transdermal magnesium therapy. I had read most other books on magnesium. I took oral magnesium supplements and felt good. Then, someone gave me a copy of this book. Based on Dr. Sircus's discussion, I tried ocean minerals magnesium oil derived from seawater, and ancient minerals magnesium oil derived from seabed desposits. They worked equally well. I then discovered that to lessen itchiness or stingyness, you can use the oil in a bath or footbath. Or you can put the oil into your favorite lotion or make your own lotion with equal parts magnesium oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera gel. I wish I had known about magnesium oil a long time ago, but I am extremely grateful that Dr. Sircus wrote his book. I recommend this book to anyone--because magnesium oil can help everyone. Thank you, Dr. Sircus!
Addendum (06.21.08): No way is this book a term paper! Rather Dr. Sircus synthesizes a complete picture of what magnesium does for our health. His book is not about presenting the work of others. Almost every good scientist already knows about the importance of magnesium. But ten thousand scientific studies mean nothing for the health of the average person IF the medical system continues to ignore it. Beyond providing a vast review of the many uses and history of magnesium for health, Dr. Sircus exposes the hypocrisy of allopathic medicine in its near-total refusal to recognize the universal capacity of magnesium for healing. Then he goes beyond that showing how ordinary people can USE this information to improve their lives--quickly, effectively, and relatively inexpensively. In fact, his work in recent years is the very reason for the popularity of transdermal magnesium therapy and magnesium oil as healing tools (and largely is the reason a websearch on "magnesium chloride" provides much good health-related information). It is because of Dr. Sircus's extraordinary efforts that transdermal magnesium therapy will NOT become yet another effective alternative therapy suppressed by our medical system (due to the fact that magnesium cannot be patented like a synthetic drug and therefore cannot make billions for the medical-pharmaceutical complex that today dominates America). Dr. Sircus's book is the ONLY book on transdermal magnesium therapy (using magnesium chloride) and is likely to remain the authoritative work on the subject, especially when the second edition arrives. It would be a different situation if it were easy to get reliable information about magnesium chloride from your doctor, but unfortunately that is not the case. This book educates, enlightens, and informs like no other. Dr. Sircus continues shining a bright light on transdermal magnesium therapy in a way that no one else has, or likely will, largely because few doctors have the courage to go against the ideology and false beliefs ingrained in modern medicine. The sheer volume of studies cited by Dr. Sircus is hardly is proof of "nothing new," but instead shows that transdermal therapy is much needed. His book liberates the conclusions of hundreds of scientific studies from relegation to the dusty archives of medical libraries by willful ignorance of modern medicine. Far more than anyone else, Dr. Sircus is the advocate of transdermal magnesium. Knowledge about the benefits of magnesium that is not applied is useless. He understands the importance of transdermal magnesium therapy, and how it works. He is bold enough to share with his readers exactly how they can use it to support their health. That's original! Transdermal magnesium therapy is NEW precisely because millions of people will soon find help from suffering through the simple use of magnesium chloride (magnesium oil). If his book is not fascinating enough, you can visit his website where you will find lots of free information that will bring your understanding of transdermal magnesium to an even higher level. Few persons understand the BIG picture like Dr. Sircus. That is why today he is the most qualified expert on transdermal magnesium therapy. And that is why this book will change your life for the better. You can count on it!! |
