I am astounded at what I have learned from this book. I have type two diabetes and have tried many natural solution to control my diabetes without drugs. MgCl2 "oil" rubbed over my body dropped my blood sugar to 86 three hours after a dinner meal. I was shocked. I had been taking 1200 mg of magnesium daily, since I knew magnesium lowered insulin resistance. I was still magnesium deficient. The book stated that in order to get sufficient magnesium, you have to take as much orally, up to the bowel tolerance limit, PLUS, rubbing magnesium "oil" over most of your body. I am now waking up nearly every day with blood sugar levels, I.e., below a 100. I am doing this while still controlling the amount of carbs I consume. Dr. Sircus books on baking soda and iodine are equally shocking. Please get these books, if you care about your health.

This book is a lifesaver for me and my brother.

I am 59 years old and for the past two years, I suffered from tingling feet along with some weird numbness in my lower legs. My feet became hypersensitive and I couldn't stand to have my wife even touch them. At first, I began to look at my diet and started taking vitamins and various supplements. Later, I suspected I might be in the early stages of diabetes, so I tried cutting back on sugar and alcohol consumption. (I decided to only go to a doctor as a last resort--I didn't want to get a bunch of prescription drugs with who-knows-what side effects.) Eating better and exercising helped but I still had bouts of tingly feet, as if I might have some nerve damage.

A few weeks ago I discovered "Transdermal Magnesium Therapy: A New Modality for the Maintenance of Health" by Dr. Mark Sircus. He makes a strong case that most people are deficient in magnesium, and many of the symptoms of magnesium deficiency I seemed to be experiencing.

As recommended, I tried soaking my feet in a hot solution of magnesium chloride for about an hour. When finished, my feet felt wonderful, so much so that I asked my wife to rub them later. The sensitivity was gone! I began using magensium oil daily to stay on top of this situation. So far, so good.

With such dramatic results, I thought of my brother who is 55.

My brother is a disabled veteran who has been diagnosed with MS and is on beaucoup medications. His health has declined markedly over the past few years and he needed to use a big walking stick just to get up and move around. Always in pain, he couldn't sleep well. After my fantastic results, I noted in the book that Dr. Sircus says that the symptoms of MS are the same as the symptoms of magnesium deficiency.

Transdermal (through the skin) magnesium chloride is the best detoxification agent known, plus it's cheap and easy to buy. It also helps with diabetes, arthritis, blood pressure, heart disease, heart attack and strokes (both prevention and recovery). It's good for tremors and muscle cramps; acne, warts and itching skin; cerebral and circulatory problems; asthma and hay fever. It also treats viral illnesses like colds/flu/bronchitis/measles/mumps/boils; and it is also good for enzyme processes, muscle pain, insomnia, headaches/migraines, bones/teeth and gums.

The main point of the book is that we are all short of magnesium, which is as important to us as air and water but ignored by the medical system that has lost contact with reality. Sircus calls magnesium a medical miracle, one that should be a priority since we can safely assume we need magnesium if we have any kind of health problem.

Magnesium chloride lotion/oil/bath salts that can be safely applied directly to the skin (transdermally) enable high dosage so magnesium can be brought up to high levels quickly and without diarrhea and problems with absorption. More than that, it turns out that only magnesium chloride (of all the different types of magnesium) is able to protect the cells of our bodies; probably it's a molecular, and not merely ionic, matter.

Transdermal magnesium chloride is the best way (equal to intravenous) as it's very difficult to bring up magnesium levels in the body, long term, in any other way. Any magnesium tablets, capsules or powder are only absorbed at about 40%. It can take up to a year to raise magnesium levels to an adequate level but doesn't always work. (I myself took 1,000mg magnesium citrate for several years without noticeable improvements).

As I posted on a one star comment elsewhere, I agree that he needs to give a better plan of action, but I would still give this book a much better rating simply because of the enormous amount of desparately needed information he includes. He sounds out a battle cry that desparately needs to be sounded and he does give you places to look for more information. The number of conditions he connects to magnesium deficiency are amazing and he always gives more sources. I think the book would be too large if he went into more detail. It is a bit technical for the average Joe, but anybody can get an amazing amount of desparately needed information here.

If you are struggling with Cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, MS, arthritis, Alzheimers, ADD/ADHD, or have a child with Autism, you really need this book. You will be amazed what little old Magnesium can do. Like a lot of things, it has been hiding in plain sight all these years. If only we/they had listened; how many lives could have been saved?
