5.0 out of 5 stars Change Your Life by Changing Your Handwriting, January 20, 2010
This review is from: Transform Your Life Through Handwriting (Book & CD) (Audio CD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Transform Your Life Through Handwriting is a spiritual graphology kit consisting of two audio CDs, a spiral bound guidebook, a spiral bound journal, and a deck of alphabet graphology cards. While all these go together very nicely, I was initially surprised to see the way this handwriting transformation kit was arranged, as apparently I'd been expecting a book and CDs, rather than a kit of so many things inside a box.

For those who have read graphology books and studied graphology to any extent, the principle behind transforming one's life through changing one's handwriting is fairly obvious, yet seldom fully explained. There seem to be many more examples and descriptions of what not to do in other books, so Vimala Rodgers' approach of focusing entirely on positive patterns is refreshingly different.

I like the sound of Vimala's voice on the audio tracks of the CDs, and once I'd adjusted to the initial shock of this entire kit being so very different than every other book on graphology I've seen, I started having fun with this program. Each letter is described in terms of its soul quality, its declaration of intent, its alphabetic family, its element, its gender, its gemstone, its animal and its angelic guardian protector. These qualities for each letter gave me a deeper appreciation for the meditations involved in writing each letter in upper and lower case -- and meditation is indeed the best way to describe what is involved. With only a modicum of advice on what not to do, I found myself fascinated by some of the reasoning behind the advice. We therefore learn to avoid writing a "secretary f," for example, that states, "I'll do your work well, but my ideas don't count."

I highly recommend this for anyone open-minded enough to try changing their handwriting, as there is a great deal to learn here, and this system really can work!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Vimala Alphabet is Life Changing, February 17, 2010

This review is from: Transform Your Life Through Handwriting (Book & CD) (Audio CD)
After having read the Your Handwriting Can Change Your Life! book, I decided to order this book and CD combination. Wow, I am so glad I did. Folks, this is not a handwriting improvement or a handwriting analysis program. This is a life transformation program! The CDs are awesome; Vimala gives so much information on each letter and her warm personality and in-depth knowledge just comes right through. The cards are very easy to carry or tuck into the notebook I use to practice my letters. I've been using the Vimala Alphabet every day for the last 60 days or so and I can say that amazing and wonderful things are happening almost every day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch Your Life Unfold, June 14, 2010
This review is from: Transform Your Life Through Handwriting (Book & CD) (Audio CD)
Vimala Rodgers has developed alphabetical patterns based on "sacred technology of the ages" and shares them in Transform Your Life hrough Handwriting: a kit with two CDs, a guidebook, a blank journal and 26 cards. Simply put, the author guides readers and listeners to adopt handwriting patterns that bring their hidden talents, abilities, and dreams to life.

"Writing patterns are a graphic image of how your subconscious mind interprets the world and your place in it. As you adopt new letter shapes, you are telling your mind how to think--for perhaps the first time in your life," says Rodgers.

With an interest in handwriting from early childhood, Rodgers has studied Latin, Sanskrit, history, philosophy, and psychology while holding a vision of a career for herself that involves "the transformational power of the letters." "Each stroke of the pen makes a statement--not about who you are, but about who you say you are, i.e., your self-image," she writes.

I've just pulled a card from the Transform Your Life through Handwriting deck, in my left hand, as Vimala Rodgers suggests on her CD, and asked: "What attitude do I need to bring into my life today?" The letter card I chose is U for open-mindedness. The back of the card reads: "I listen to others as though I know nothing."

The guidebook offers me more information on the "soul quality" of the letter U. If I find it difficult to listen "to what others share, without offering contradictory feedback," I ought to start practicing this letter today. The letter U is part of the alphabetical family Rodgers calls the Family of Learning and Evaluating.

Each letter of the alphabet is described in the guidebook with an element, gender, gemstone, animal and guardian protector. On the CDs, Rodgers describes the letters in the order of their alphabetical families, beginning with the Family of Communication; Family of Learning and Evaluating; Family of Honoring and Expressing; Family of Insight, Family of Applied Creativity, Family of Status and Vision, Family of Trusting and Inner Authority; and ending with Grandfather which is the letter Z.

Besides choosing a letter of the day, Rodgers advises practicing a letter for 40 days, the formation of which she describes in the guidebook and on the CDs. I love Rodgers' voice as it's so down-to-earth and practical. She sounds very comfortable and well-versed in this vision she is sharing with the world.

I've chosen to work with the letter of my first name for 40 days: M. the letter M is "the matriarch of the Family of Honoring and Expressing." All this practicing is done with a pen on unlined paper in the landscape direction as "the portrait direction is common; your dreams are not".

I'm finding the practice meditative and spiritual. While practicing a page of letters, I also get to declare my intent, review the aspects of a particular letter and fill a page with how I see "the aspects of this letter impacting [my] life in an uplifting way."

Rodgers says she loves to work with doubters. She gives an example of a male client who was a skeptic but tried the writing system anyway. After the first 40 days he quit smoking. In the second 40 days he went on retreat to Hawaii and in the third, he stopped drinking. Skeptic or not, it sure seems worth a try. As Rodgers says if you follow her practices: "Now watch your life unfold." Vimala Rodgers has done it and inspires others to express their gifts in the world, to "make a difference doing what you love."

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Packaged, Interesting Concept, May 11, 2010
This review is from: Transform Your Life Through Handwriting (Book & CD) (Audio CD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The "Transform Your Life Through Handwriting" book and CD sets out to teach you to use the spiritual energy inherent in letters of the alphabet to direct your thoughts and improve yourself, your life, and your interactions with the world around you. It's beautifully packaged and comes with a guidebook and a CD to guide you in your meditation, a spiral-bound blank book for you to practice your handwriting in, a deck of 26 cards, one for each letter of the alphabet, with things about each letter for you to meditate on as you practice drawing the letter each day. You supply your favorite pen and a willingness to open your mind.

I like the idea of this kit, even if I'm a little bewildered by some aspects of the practice. It all felt so foreign to me, to close my eyes, pick a card from the deck, then inhale and "pray" out loud the letter's intention as I exhale. Maybe that means that this particular aspect of the kit and the practice isn't for me, or it isn't for me yet. I think that people who are used to meditating in this particular way and who are really in tune with their spiritual selves will really get a lot out of this aspect of the kit.

As for what I got out of my first 40 days with "Transform Your Life...", I think that using the intentional act of focusing on writing in the sense of picking up a pen and putting it to the paper and slowly drawing your letters and thinking intentionally about them as you do, is an excellent way to reconnect your hands to your thoughts. So much of our lives these days are so mindless. We type on our computers while watching TV, talking on the phone, and eating a sandwich most of the time. The only time we ever hand-write anything anymore is when we're leaving a quick note or scribbling out a shopping or to-do list. Even if you don't fall in to all the "spiritual energy" of letters this book and CD suggest, you could benefit from devoting a little time each day to focusing on one thing, that pen in your hand, and the letters you're going to draw on real paper with it, no computer, no TV, no phone, no sandwich while you're doing so. Re-learning to do one thing at a time with intention and purpose instead of mindlessly multitasking might be what transforms your life on a very practical level. If you're looking for a way to learn to be in the moment, but you're not interested in having to learn a series of yoga poses or anything like that, this kit could be just what you're looking for, and you can delve as deeply into all the spirituality as you want, or just focus on practicing a letter a day and not being judgmental with yourself as you do so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting form of meditation, February 18, 2010
This review is from: Transform Your Life Through Handwriting (Book & CD) (Audio CD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
It took me a while to get through this book and cd and to take the 40 day challenge but I did. I was a bit skeptical about a book that claims to improve your life through handwriting. As the author says, there is no such thing as a good or bad handwriting, but imperfections will give you insight into your hang-ups in life. That part I can believe. This is really a good exercise in self-reflection and finding what is really bugging you and keeping you back from reaching happiness. Think of it as handwriting meditation.

The book presents The Five Noble Truths of Integral Handwriting. Again, all of these truths are related to handwriting.

1. To be non-judgmental.
2. Frequency.
3. By paying attention to others you will become closer.
4. The more difficult something is the more reward it possesses.
5. Once you are honest with an issue, then you can begin to do something about it.

This handwriting meditation is on par with walking meditation. The nice thing about handwriting meditation is it can be done anytime you are writing. Brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a gift!, January 13, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Last year, as I was listening to Louise Hay's "I Can Do It," I heard about how Ms. Hay changed her life by changing her handwriting, thanks to Vimala Rodgers. I've been curious about it ever since, and it was such a delight to find this whole kit available to me.

I like this concept a lot. This has very little to do with handwriting, and so much to do with awareness. You practice designated letters each day, and I didn't know how much of an impact it would make until I realized how often the letters I used would have me thinking of my spiritual intentions.

I actually quite like my handwriting as it is. I was a little reluctant to change it, but I realized that changing my writing will be a metaphor for changing my life. Again, it's not about the handwriting. It's about earlier today, when I went to write out a bill, and I remembered to cross my "t" a certain way, which then reminded me of the spiritual intent that goes along with that letter. What a reminder and how frequently they occur!

This is a great tool for keeping you on track and steered toward your heart's values and desires. All the best.

Vimala Rodgers' newest work is multi-dimensional. Whether one's learning style is visual, auditory or kinesthetic, the path is here. In addition to a comprehensive manual offering new, spiritual depth to the transformational Vimala System of Handwriting, there is also a deck of individual letter cards that can be used in a number of ways, and a CD of additional material from Vimala, herself. It's the next best thing to taking a workshop directly from this visionary. If you've ever wondered about how this technology can possibly work, this is a very accessible and affordable way to check it out.

Transform Your Life Through Handwriting by Vimala Rodgers (Sounds True) Can you change your life just by changing your handwriting? Graphologists have long known that the psyche expresses its deepest truths through the pen. Yet Vimala Rodgers has discovered that line of communication works both ways--meaning you can "reprogram" your subconscious by making purposeful shifts in your handwriting. With Transform Your Life through Handwriting, Rodgers presents a complete course for igniting practical, lasting changes in your life with nothing more than a pen and paper.
This is not a course in penmanship--the first of Vimala's "Five Noble Truths of Handwriting" is that there is no such thing as good or bad script. Instead, you will learn to recognize the encoded messages from your soul in every stroke of the pen. Is there a self-sabotaging loop in your "f"? Is a counterclockwise "o" stifling your inner truth? You'll learn the hidden meanings in each letter, allowing you to clear away blockages, heal old wounds, and express your full creativity.
Writing a single page a day for 40 days is all it takes to alter even the most ingrained handwriting patterns--and invite profound changes to unfold in your life. Vimala Rodgers has helped thousands of people experience personal empowerment, spiritual growth, and spontaneous healing. Does handwriting really make such a difference? "Transform Your Life Through Handwriting" is a nice book accompanied by CD for anyone interested in handwriting analysis or caligraphy. It does not matter if one is interested in self-help book or personal transfromation of any kind, or is one is simply looking for ways to have fun outside of traditional scrap book activities.

I found this to be a really nice gift idea to anyone one knows that is interested in healing, handwriting analysis, learning more about self or simply looking for ways to have lots of fun.

I just received the box set. I am only on day three into the 40 day process that Vimila Rodgers recommends, but think that the set will help with being mindful. Even if you do not buy into the concept of changing your life through handwriting, it can only help to spend a small amount of time each day focusing on Rodgers uplifting spiritual messages. The set is lovely quality and would make a wonderful gift for someone interested in improving their life or who just enjoys journaling.
