This book is incredible. It should be read slowly and carefully, taking the time to pray and digest all the material within. I think I will read and re-read it many times. I have already bought 4 copies for other people. It is for the Christian who wants the true answers to why we continually do the stupid things we do - even though we 'know better'. It deals with relationships - all of our relationships and focuses on the most important relationship - that of a believer to his Lord. Jesus Christ's death is the answer through which all our hurts can be healed, and this book is deliberate and thorough on why that is the case. If you want to hear what God says better, find out why you eat too much or drink or have been too promiscuous, this is the book for you. If your problems are workaholism or just not getting along with your spouse, this is the book for you. If you're not quite sure why you feel that uncomfortable sensation when things are not going well and you can't explain why - this is the book for you. Too much to describe here. This is no magic formula or cult book - it is all about the laws of the world and how God set us up to work- and how to align ourselves with that.

Having enjoyed a number of seminars presented by the Sanfords, and seen the fruit of their labors in lives healed and sanctified, it was refreshing to read The Transformation Of The Inner Man. This transformation begins with accepting Christ's sacrificial atonement and is worked out in the process of maturation in the Christian walk. Accountability, maturity and responsibility are all appropriately emphasized in the context of grace and compassion for the hurting and the lost. As a mature student in a Counseling Psychology M.A. program, who has also taken courses at Vancouver, British Columbia's Regent College, I have studied the biblical application of their philosophical/psychologial reasoning and found it to be sound in every respect. The lasting change of which they speak, in contrast to humanistic approaches, is demonstrated to be truly effected only through the agency of the Holy Spirit, as God unites His will with that of the individual who is seeking true scriptural transformation. It seems tragic that, being wary of demonic imitations of The Real Thing (one example might be a 'theosophistic' approach to healing), there are those who shun the Truth of what God has given us and 'Slewfoot' has so poorly imitated. How ironic that the enemy can leave us attacking other Christians, especially those who have been so efficacious is the realm of 'cleansing and purifying one's innermost being' (I specifically mean the Sanfords in this case), when what we are called to do in this hour is build up the body of Christ. 'By their fruits you shall know them'. The fruit of the Sanford's work is holiness, purity, repentance and love as is described in the 13th chapter of the book of Corinithians. I would caution any reader to weigh each deposit by overzealous reviewers who have not personally witnessed the ministry of the Sanfords, and the fruits of their labors, close at hand. What can we do to facilitate the divine work that the Lord has been doing through the Sanfords? Refraining from quenching the Spirit is a start.

I borrowed this book from a library about 15 years ago - maybe less. I was 40 or more years old and had read self-help books for 20 years. This was the last self-help book I read, because it was thoroughly therapeutic. The authors helped me recognize the pattern of anti-social thinking/behavior in one area of my life, the reasons for it being there, and the recognition of my anger. It was helpful to know that I could die to that old way of thinking because Christ went to the cross and paid for it before I was born. It took about 3 days to grieve the loss of the old way of thinking and on about the 4th day, to enter the new, unfamiliar freedom of right thoughts and feelings. It's been wonderful. I am so grateful.

John and Paula Sandford are to be applauded for their dedication to God and His principals. They have shown great wisdom in their approach to the many issues we face in the busy days of modern living. Having put many of their suggestions to the test, I can state that John and Paula are not only Biblically sound; they are practical as well. Their teaching is setting people free throughout the world.

I deeply appreciate the work of Transforming the inner man.The Sandfords have put their heart and soul into this writing and haveearned the right to write this book because of the long road they have traveled helping and ministering to others. Some have criticized this work but those same ones have not made the trip. The inner man is a life long journey of renewal and transformation. The Sandfords have helped us to better understand this divine process.

I picked up this book per a recommendation of a pastor and found it to be an excellent resource. It is especially helpful for those suffering with any type of addiction. Scriptural sound doctrine.

If you need lots of perspectives, angles, definitions and reflections, plus over 24,000 hours of combined experience in healing folks with mental and emotional illness, you need to read this book. In the end, it is simplified for lay folks and we can all benefit and use it to help others through the rough spots of their journeys, no matter how big the problems seem. It thoroughly changed my counseling methods and kept me from being drained at the end of the day.

This was a 2nd book to give as a gift to a person going to school for Counseling. This is a must for those studying. It is a very comprehensive book. Not a fast reader and full of information for someone who wants to understand Holy Spirit Psycology. John Sandford is full of information. Excellent book. Probably not for everyone.

After a friend's suggestion of what an amazing book this was, I bought it through Amazon. He told me to skip the first couple chapters. The chapter I started on made some sense and I was able to identify with some of it. Unfortunately, there was too much religious references for me to continue reading through more than a couple chapters. Best of luck to you!

This is the second copy of this book that I've purchased because the insights/scripture are so profound that I wanted to share. Believe me, this book on inner healing is worth the read. It helped me more than I can say and anyone who needs to understand the scriptures about God's healing and deliverance will not be dissapointed.
