Deeply effective comprehensive guidance for those who (1) want more loving, passionate and liberating intimate relationships; and (2) are ready to work through whatever is in the way. Immature monogamy entraps; mature monogamy liberates. This book is about making the journey toward mature monogamy, teaching that in a truly intimate relationship, freedom is found not from limitation, but through limitation.

More About the Author

Robert Augustus Masters, Ph.D., is the author of 11 books, including Transformation Through Intimacy and Darkness Shining Wild. He holds a doctorate in psychology, and is a highly experienced psychotherapist, bodyworker, trainer of psychotherapists, and teacher of spiritual deepening. His integral, intuitive work dynamically blends the psychological and physical with the spiritual, emphasizing embodiment, authenticity, deep shadow work, emotional openness and literacy, and the development of relational maturity.

He has seen and personally experienced the highs and lows of spirituality from many perspectives, including as a practicing psychotherapist for 32 years and as a spiritual teacher. Those who work with him are taught, among other things, how to turn toward and enter their pain so that they might pass through it, rather than rising above or otherwise avoiding it. At essence his work is about becoming more intimate with all that we are -- dark and light, high and low, shallow and deep, neurotic and transcendent, dying and undying.

He and his wife Diane work and teach in extraordinarily close conjunction, doing all their groups, sessions, and trainings together. They also offer online work; for more information go to www.masterscenter.net.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Deep, August 10, 2010
This review is from: Transformation Through Intimacy: The Journey Toward Mature Monogamy (Paperback)
This is defnitely a deep book, however, I would have appreciated a less technical approach to the delivery of this beautiful information. Masters has got a strong theory backed up with sound evidence to what a deep realtionship should look, feel, and be like. Although I found it somewhat overly clinical, I have to say that there were definitely some passages that were truly inspiring, mind-opening, and heart-opening. There are many sound and realistic ideas/actions that couples and even the individual can put into place for a deeper and more meaningful life and relationship. The poetry is amazing!
