When Transformational Mothering was given to me I was worried because I do not consider myself a Christian and I did not know what to expect. I anticipated being offended in some way but this book is so beautifully written and so inclusive that I felt connected to the community of mothers in a way I had not fully experienced before. This book made me feel like could pray again.

Transformational Mothering did more than touch my soul, it was useful. It is a book that I refer to over and over again for comfort, inspiration or just a good laugh.

What impressed me most was how this first time mother really understood the complexity of her journey as a mother, that she could put it into words and that she could honor her journey and the journey of other mothers. It was empowering to read. This book is a true gift to anyone who is thinking of becoming a mother or who is a mother or who wants a great gift for a mother.

This is a beautifully written ode to all mothers and to Motherhood. Amy Robbins-Wilson writes of her own experiences as a new mother with wisdom, grace, and a wonderful sense of humor. Reading her thoughts, anecdotes, and prayers touched me thoroughly and brought me to tears many times. This is a book to which I shall return again and again for its uplifting prayers and affirmations. I am so happy to have been given this book and know that I will be the one giving it in the future!

It contains a series of prayers that will appeal to the religious and non-religious alike. The prayers are a collection of positive affirmations for ourselves and our children as we travel on the journey of Motherhood. I was so touched and blessed by this book, I wish I had it when I was going through my first pregancy and my then-infant son's health problems 8 years ago. Throughout pregnancy and as a new mom, I read everything I could find about what to expect, but what was missing from every book was how spititual the journey can be when we become parents -- parenting changes us in amazing and bewildering ways. Lots of times things happen that we can't expect or plan for. I love the gentleness of this book as it addresses the things that can break us -- exhaustion, worry, comparing ourselves to other moms and their journeys, experiencing complications in pregnancy or our baby's health problems. I appreciate Amy Robbins-Wilson's candor and the beautiful simplicity of her prayers, and it is MY prayer that this book will help many, many new mothers or mothers-to-be who need validation and comfort along the crazy journey of becoming a parent. This book is going on my list of books that I will give to every new mom or mom-to-be that I know.

Transformational Mothering teaches us to create while being awake, spiritually, and fully conscious of our staggering vulnerability in life as parents; our need for support; the importance of "faith"; and the pure delight of seeing ourselves proceed gratefully into a more spirit-connected future with and through our children from those moments prior to conception and beyond. With each thought, word, and action, all of us are continually "praying" and thus, creating. Here, the author has graciously modeled how best to pray exposing most every possibility facing a parent. This book is truly a masterful piece of thoughtful and devout understanding of the power of prayer and the wondrous "gift" of being in relationship with our children. A must read for anyone that is planning on being a parent or is a parent. Jim Solo, Father and Grandparent

Where was this book when I was 19 years old and a single mother? Prayers, poetry, affirmations and stories beautifully written and shared from her heart; Amy provides us with a true gift. Transformational Mothering is a 'must have' for every new mother. This book would make a wonderful baby shower gift! As a mother of three, an early childhood educator and an author myself, I LOVE this book and highly recommend you purchase it for yourself and a new mother in your life.

I just finished Transformational Mothering and I am not sure if I am transformed, but I do feel seen, for the first time in a long time. Amy Robbins-Wilson has written a book that is honest, non-judgmental, and which honors mothers for the TRUE complexity of motherhood.

This is not a book filled with platitudes about how great you are and how all the sacrifice of mothering is worth it. Amy digs in and tells the truth. There were times I felt I could have written the book if I had time to journal like I did before kids! Here's a quote that made me cry with acknowledgment:

"We are all doing the best that we can, and none of us can do it alone. It was my struggle with my identity as a mother that brought me to motherhood as my spiritual practice... Making the shift in my mind from motherhood as repetitive drudgery that was under-appreciated to seeing my efforts as rituals of transcendence and transformation changed my life."

Well Ms. Robbins-Wilson, your book has changed my life. Thank you for the perspective rewrite, you really are the Marianne Williamson of Mothers.
