Book Description

February 27, 2006 New Studies Phenomenology/Hermeneutics

How are we to think and act constructively in the face of today’s environmental and political catastrophes? Gail Stenstad finds inspiring answers in the thought of German philosopher Martin Heidegger. Rather than simply describing or explaining Heidegger’s transformative way of thinking, Stenstad’s writing enacts it, bringing new insight into contemporary environmental, political, and personal issues. Readers come to understand some of Heidegger’s most challenging concepts through experiencing them. This is a truly creative scholarly work that invites all readers to carry Heidegger’s transformative thinking into their own areas of deep concern.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful reading, November 2, 2006

This review is from: Transformations: Thinking after Heidegger (New Studies Phenomenology/Hermeneutics) (Paperback)
Reading this book was an exhilarating experience. It is really thought provoking; I have read it twice, and very carefully, since I received it four weeks ago, and did not miss a day to spread the word among my friends. But mind you, I would not say it's an easy book to read, and certainly not, a book for beginners; but if you are interested on Heidegger's thought and somehow familiar with it, you can not miss it

and then, get ready for an absolute delight (including the recipe for

a tomato sandwich that Heidegger himself would have liked!)
