this 2 pack is very very nice.nothing new with Vector Prime, except that Safegaurd is made of a different plastic. The Starscream or Thrust,as i like to call it,is one fantastic voyager class figure.he has two flip out swords instead of one,he also weilds a sgun which he holds in his hand.the jet mode is very nice as well.this voyager version of starscream is actually the one from japan, because in japan,hasbro/takara does not distribute the supreme class starscream, they get this voyager class version, only painted like the supreme version.this 2 pack is definatley worth the money

i got this with my brothers help he kept vectorprime and i kept starscream starscream is really cool because if you get the supreme he's kindof hard to play with the others normally cause he's so BIG! but this deluxe version is very fun to play with the others because he's almost exactly like the big one but smaller and it's really fun to play with them both if you like starscream like me all in all an A+ toy

When Cybertron first appeared in the U.S., I was instantly envious of Japan for two reasons. 1. The show accuate paint job of their Vector Prime and 2. Their Voyager sized Starscream. So you can imagine how over joyed I was when I heard that they were releasing this 2-pack as a TRU exclusive. I immediatly thought that this was going to be like last series exclusive Optimus Prime and Megatron 2-pack which were spot on like their Japanese counter parts.
Well close enough I guess. I was really really hoping that Vector Prime was going to have the Takara paint job, which is why I held off buying the intial Cybertron release. But alas, Cybertron paint job. Ah well, at least it's a great mold. The paint job isn't as bad as I thought. The white looks really good although I'm not a fan of that burnt maroon. The lack of some of the gold accents and the red missing on his shoulders is what really hurts the paint job. However again, I stress, it doesn't hurt the mold. There was a problem with mine though. I don't know if it was because manufacturing error or the way he was sitting in the box but his left wing doesn't want to fully spread out for his alt. mode. There's a split in the blue plastic that's directly against the metal pin that holds the wing in place that's preventing it from doing so. It's a little dissapointing but it's not the toy's fault so I can't hold it against it. I won't go into the transformation because it's ridiculously easy. His posseability in robot mode is pretty okay. It could have been better but what you've got isn't anything to complain about. However, I'd like to end VP's review with this: I hate the child safety laws made Vector Prime's sword droop this side of the pacific. C'mon guys! Our parents had toys that with sharp metal edges and missle launchers that fired up to 10 ft. and they turned out okay. Quit babying kids. The Japanese seem to think their kids can handle hard plastic swords. Jeez. Now Starscream. They really should have just called him Thrust. That's my only gripe. The mold is fantastic in every way and I'm thrilled that I don't have to dedicate another room to this voyager sized decepticon. Don't get me wrong, Cybertron Starscream is very very cool (especially the crown). It's just too big. I'm perfectly happy with this Starscream. A little different than Cybertron's Starscream in that his left arm houses an additional blade rather than his null ray and Voyager sized also comes with a hand held missle launcher that fits comfortably under the nose of his jet mode and can be placed in a hole underneath his backpack type thing in robot mode (although you may want to remove the missle as it restricts arm movement and doesn't allow one of the blades to pop out fully.) He's the more challenging of the two to transform but that's only because of the legs. So there you go. Overall a pretty good 2-pack with some minor issues but pretty well worth it (especially if you don't want to shell out the $80 dollars to buy the Takara versions.) Also I'd like to add that with exception of my VP's wing dilema, I've had no problems with parts falling off as some other reviewers have attested to. But one has to consider that I'm older (too old to be playing with toys ;)) and mabye I haven't banged them around as much as kid would. Then again mabye theirs really where faulty. Who's to say?

This two-pack of toys is a great value. My son tore into the package three weeks ago and has been playing with these ever since. They are great for the car since they transform from one toy into another.

These guys are great. Nothing new with Vector Prime, I bought the first release of it when it came out a few months ago. But it does look good next to ol' Screamer. Starscream's re-deco is very cool and menacing. I thought they should have named it Thrust as homage to the G1. Hasbro, listen... take this smaller scale Screamer and repaint it blue and another one purple and black... call them, Thundercracker and Skywarp. The smaller Starscream is cool because it is obviously, not as bulky as the Unicron-sized one. It is a cool figure.

This is not like transformers I have had in the past. These are very hard to manipulate and pieces fall off while you move things around. Children and adults both had difficulty. Also, the keys have no storage space when not in use so I imagine they will be lost shortly. Not pleased with this toy.

My son loves the Transformers cartoon and wanted nothing but Transformers toys for Christmas and his birthday. After receiving two for his birthday, I can tell you he won't be getting any for Christmas. The instructions make IKEA instructions look clear and detailed. The toy comes apart into many little pieces that are not labeled and look nothing like the picture. Little pieces that break easily. Little pieces that DO NOT transform into anything resembling a Transformer.
What we have now is a box full of unidentifiable Transformer parts. My son is heartbroken. Save your money and save your child some grief. They may have great marketing, but they do not follow up with a great product. |
