Great for kids who aren't ready to transform!
We purchased the "robot replicas" Transformers for my son after reading the less-than-glowing reports about the Transformers that actually turn into something else that were designed for my son's age range (4YO). Please note that these are ACTION FIGURES and they DO NOT TRANSFORM. Thus, there is no worrying about them falling apart, not transforming correctly, etc. What...

Not that great for young kids
I don't have much experience with other Transformers, but I wouldn't recommend this one for young kids. For one thing, it doesn't transform into anything that kids would be familiar with. It turns into a weird looking tank thing. Also, the gun arm barely stays on. Not sure why they designed it like this, but it comes off all the time, even when loading the gun. So it's...

We purchased the "robot replicas" Transformers for my son after reading the less-than-glowing reports about the Transformers that actually turn into something else that were designed for my son's age range (4YO). Please note that these are ACTION FIGURES and they DO NOT TRANSFORM. If you have a child who loves to roleplay using action figures, these are great.

It turns into a weird looking tank thing. Also, the gun arm barely stays on. Not sure why they designed it like this, but it comes off all the time, even when loading the gun. So it's not very durable in that my kid has to constantly stop playing with it to fix it. He does love to play with it, but that also because it's his first Transformer and he loves the franchise even though he's never seen any of the movies or tv shows (I'm assuming there are tv shows).
