Then, take the battle to a whole other level and convert him into F-22 Raptor jet vehicle mode so he can fight from the skies. The robot figure converts to F-22 Raptor jet vehicle mode - and back again. It includes 2 AA batteries.

Making yet another appearance is Starscream. Megatron's right hand man... er, robot that gets kicked around a lot. While I'm not impressed with the movie character per se, I do like the design. They've now released him in Leader class and this bigger size really suits him. As a jet he should be huge. He'd even tower over Optimus Prime in reality... you know, if reality were awesome.
In jet mode he's sleek and cool. From the top, front and sides he looks almost perfect with the top especially looking smooth. The bottom isn't bad and only has a minimal amount of robot bits visible, the most obtrusive being the missile launcher that can be stored there. From the back the only downside is that he's a bit too thick and this is where you can tell it the most. On all counts though he's leaps better than Transformers Voyager Starscream and I really loved that figure at the time (because it was leaps better than what came before).
Transformation isn't too bad. You swing the legs down and make a few flips to them, flip sections of the wings up and pull some out, which rather coolly pop up on the back via springs, unfold the arms, click everything into place and fold him down. That's an oversimplification as there are several pretty specific steps where things have to be folded just right to click together just right. I'd recommend relying on the instructions one or two times. They actually include some actual photos (not just drawings) in a few key steps. Two or three times though and it's second nature.
In robot mode he's very detailed, all the smoothness of the jet replaced with complex designs. His head looks very close to the movie version. And they managed to pull off a lot of articulation. His head turns in about a 90 degree arc; his shoulders move up and down and rotate. When the shoulders move up some little bars move out from the body which is a nice touch. Elbows twist and bend but due to some action features the wrists do not twist, they do however bend as does the mid finger joint and the two "thumbs" bend in and out. One of my favorites is that the arms can bend forward about 45 degrees pivoting the wings forward. The waist does not twist unfortunately but the legs move forward and back at the hip and two knee joints. The toes can splay out and the shins twist.
Paint wise he looks really good. He's cast in grey with the black tattoos painted on. It looks really good especially in jet form. There are other highlights in black and a spot of red or yellow here and there. As usual there could be more paint but for a toy made for play this is probably enough.
Special features include several sounds by push button or pulling the canopy in robot mode (which moves the jaw up and down and unfolds some sections), a jet sound, a transformation sound (tip: when going to jet form clamp the top panel on as soon as you flip the front of the jet up to keep this sound from going off constantly) and two phrases. These make his eyes and jet intakes light up. There is a pop up Gatling gun on his right arm and pop up missiles on the left. He has a missile launcher that can be attached to his hand and fire one of the jet missiles. The missiles and this launcher can all store on his back in robot mode as well.
Sure there's room for improvement. An articulated waist and rotatable wrists would have added tons more posing options and paint could be more detailed for collectors but overall this guy is great and the bigger size is welcome. I'd be remiss not to give him a five star mark.

This is the pinnacle of the Transformer line of toys. His colors are excellent and just absolutely detailed figure. Like all leader class figures he can be difficult to transform the first time but you get the hang of it, thanks youtube for the transformation videos. Really top quality heavy figure has three different voices two in plane mode and two in robot mode, they share one voice. A must have.

Usually, toy manufacturers don't put much real time nor effort into toys based on a movie - even when that movie is based on their toys! Leader Starscream is the 2nd exception to that rule (first being Leader Prime, ROTF edition).
This toy is a GREAT representation of the movie character. Everything is VERY detailed and the articulation superb for such an awkward looking being. Too difficult for younger kids, but a great buy for 10+ ages.
Voice isn't great, but take out the batteries and you'll never care.
