Minicons......GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL!!!, September 23, 2002

This review is from: Transformers Armada Air Defence Minicon Team - Jetstorm / Runway / Sonar (Toy)
Its a sad day in Transformers history when it can be compared to Pokemon. Well lets try and push that thought behind and get to the toys. Of the 3 sets of minicons released this has got to be the coolest set of minicons out there. If you remember the days of the Headmasters than you will remember that those guys did not have alot of articulation and you wouldnt expect it from the size of those toys. But not only do these toys have better posability, they can all combine!! Thats right not only can they change from aircrafts to robots, they can change into a sword called StarSaber. And if you have Scourge you can have him hold the StarSaber. The only problem with these 3 guys is that its not very durable. Parts can fall off so I do not recommend giving these to small children...and in my case a kid that refuse to grow up...because you put some pressure on them and you can snap some parts off and because they are so small you can have trouble finding them again. But if you do snap them off you can easily put them it back together granted you didnt break it. Overall I would give it a B but I would not recommend it for small children. Would have gotten an A if it the parts were a little bit more durable.

Air defense mini-cons, February 6, 2003
A Kid's Review

I think the air defense team is great! My favorite is Jetstorm. The weird thing on the show is that these mini-cons did the opposite of the race team; they wouldn't activate until later, even if another transformer took the panel. The toys are very good; they don't come apart much and even if they do, they are easy to put back together. I like putting them together to form the star saber. Sonar is the handle, Runway is the middle of the blade and Jetstorm is the top part. Jetstorm is the easist to transform into the star saber mode. Even when the mini-cons are separate, they're still really cool. I gave it a 5 for fun, a 4 for education (because it helps you practice dexterity) and 4 for durability.

I thought this toy was great because it came with 3 minicons and they could all transform into the star saber sword that could be held by the regular transformer figure. However the pieces can come of easily if you but to much force on a part and when they become the sword the bottom part Sonar can't hold on to the other parts that well.

Hello This toy is great for many reasons first only cost me 6 dollars (plenty of fun for 6 bucks).. Why is it so much fun is the reason it can transform to a air jet, space shuttle also a air plane. Thus the educational value is that it teaches people and children alike to expand your imaginaton and learn skills in building one thing to another. The one thing I hate is that parts can break off of the toy if you even put a little pressure on it, like air wing, peices from the space shuttle, etc.. All in all there isn't any major problems with this toy. I think you should purchase it no matter what it's a great toy so buy it =D !

This set of Mini-Cons is great. Just one thing. Since the Star Saber version is out of production, (or maybe it was just me) you'll like get the Dark Saber version. Same toy, different paint scheme. Best part about the new paint scheme? Goes EVEN BETTER with the Decepticons!

Essential collecting for all Armada fans, May 9, 2003

This review is from: Transformers Armada Air Defence Minicon Team - Jetstorm / Runway / Sonar (Toy)
Familiar to Armada fans from its heavy coverage in both the Transformers Armada comic books and cartoons, the Air Defence Team consists of three planes (two jets and a futuristic shuttle) that combine to form the mighty Star Sabre. This is a weapon of awesome destructive power, as well as defensive potential. The quest for the Star Sabre is vital to the Autobot's chances of success in the war against the Decepticons, and the search for this in stores by kids everywhere is just as desperate. It's a fun toy, and is good value considering its three seperate toys that can combine into one sword.

This toy changes into a sword for larger figures, but has no other redeaming qualities... The planes look nice, but other armada figures are better and have more thought and design put into them. Their small size and poor design makes them easy to break, makes their sword fall apart, and generally makes them fragile. Still, they are nice transformer toys which appear on the tv show, so that's got to count for something!

As most other people have commented, the "Star Saber" combined mode of these guys falls somewhat short of being fantastic. (You can make it more stable by attaching the circular bits on Jetstorm's legs to Sonar's Powerlinx connectors, but there's no way to make it look better beyond cutting off the robot bits and gluing it all together.) However, despite this feature having gotten such a big role in the cartoon, this is actually just a secondary function that seems to have been added as an afterthought. Their real strength is as individual robots: all look cool, all are more poseable than certain other Mini-Cons who will remain nameless Sureshock, and all have some sort of of special feature: Jetstorm (the blue-trimmed jet) has unusual leg poseability, making him a potential martial arts master; Runway (silver-trimmed jet) has some obvious armaments on his arms as well as the rare ability to look up (and looks cool in robot mode); and Sonar (blue and white theoretical space shuttle design; he's on the far right in the Amazon photo, but is upside down for some reason--the top looks a lot better) has a possible "hover" mode (think Beast Machines Jetstorm), and his Star Saber handle doubles as a really huge cannon or something. Overall, you're getting three fun little toys, and the fact that they combine into something stupid is just fine--they'd be good even if they didn't combine into anything at all.
