5.0 out of 5 stars Race Team!!
The minicon race team that ran amuck and came out of hibernation by themselves is finialy in stores and they are not bad at all. Though I would have prefered that megatron or any other transformer could actually hold the sky boom shield. The sheild attaches to the arm of my megatron toy wich looks like a super cool weapon.I highly reccomend this toy for transformers lovers...

3.0 out of 5 stars good only as a shield....
It seem pretty obvious that with this mini-con group, that Hasbro was trying to make a shield first, and robots later. I have had nothing but difficulty with this team in trying to transform then(unclear instructions, especially with Dirt Boss), and keeping them together (I had a part on each one fall off at least once).

However, if you don't even waste your time tryig...

This is a fun toy. There's a comic that comes with the toy(or 3-pack).The durability is okay, but when I tried to get DIRT BOSS'S robot mode, the sides broke off and I couldn't form SKYBOOM(again). That is why I gave it 4 stars. If you try to powerlink MIRAGE on MCDONALDS CYCLONUS,it looks like a drill.Unfold DOWNSHIFT'S yellow things, turn (MCDONALDS)CYCLONUS'S LEGPART around, powerlink Downshift on him and EUREAKA!!!Legs for CYCLONUS.To make the new legs stand properly, put him on a flat surface.

This three pack is so cool three transformers for the price of one even though they are smaller versions of transformers they are still great. And what even cooler is that they transform into a shield called the skyboom shield. great three pack to purchase. A+

I have had nothing but difficulty with this team in trying to transform then(unclear instructions, especially with Dirt Boss), and keeping them together (I had a part on each one fall off at least once).

However, if you don't even waste your time tryig to transform them into robot mode, you're much better off. This group is much better off transformed into the Skyboom shield, great for any Maxcon or larger. Also, once they're in Shield form, don't bother undoing it, unless you have the patience to re-assemble Downshift and Dirtboss.

overall, if you get them to make the Skyboom shield, you won't be let down. If you're looking for only mini-cons, look elsewhere

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of the Weapon Series, July 20, 2003
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Transformers: Armada Mini-Cons Race Team 3-Pack: Dirt Boss, Downshift and Mirage (Toy)
The Race minicon team provides three great minicons and a cool weapon for the Armada series. The three combine to form the Skyboom shield/plane. Dirt Boss, the suv, is tall and durable. He forms the base of the shield. Mirage, a modified version of Starscream's Swindle, is easy to transform and forms the bottom tip of the shield. Downshift forms the top of the shield. It is interesting to note that Downshift can also have his head up while in vehicle form.
The shield, like the other weapons, is huge. It is almost taller than Smokescreen. It is fairly easy to form. Dirt Boss unfolds to attach Mirage and Downshift. The shield holds together fairly well. Sometimes Mirage may fall off, but it is not as common as the minicons for the Starsabre. The shield is the best weapon because it can be held by most transformers. Dirt Boss' head becomes a handle for Transformers with open fists. The shield can also plug into the minicon ports of other transformers, so they can hold it. Blurr, Demolisher, and Cyclonus can have it attach to their arms. This makes the shield more useful than the sabre or the blaster. I have not had a part pop off of these three figures. Overall I definately recommend this team to any transformers fan who wants more (good) minicons and a cool weapon.

This is a good toy even though Mirage is Swindel (Statscream's mini-con) with a new paint job.
I gave it a four in durabliaty because when you form Skyboom Mirage comes off easily

all in all you should get this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sky Boom, January 22, 2003

At first theese minicons look awesome. But after you try to build Sky Boom, it's not as fun. It challenges you to make Sky Boom perfect, which may I add is really hard. Even though, their still really cool.

These were my first mini-cons and still no peices have broken off that is why a gave it a five in durablity. A five in educational because of the comic that comes with it. They are fun because I got Red Alert with it so making Skyboom and attaching it to Red Alert makes him look really strong. In all this is definitly a mini-con team to get.

P.S. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS THE SKYBOOM PLANE NOT THE SKYBOOM SHIELD!!!!
