5.0 out of 5 stars An Unnecessary Toy
Powerlinx Optimus Prime is much like the ordinary Optimus Prime. They have the unfolding trailor, the minicon, and the same transforming method. The only real difference is a modified Sparkplug minicon and a new paint job. I find this toy totally unnecessary. The original Armada Optimus Prime is still available. Who would want another one of the same toy? (Unlike...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just another Hasbro repaint.
Of course we have yet another repaint of a Transformer. The automatic transforming action is about the only thing that is cool about this one. Oh wait.... the first OP did that too and I already have it. IMO skip the repaints and maybe Hasbro will learn!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Unnecessary Toy, August 9, 2003

Powerlinx Optimus Prime is much like the ordinary Optimus Prime. They have the unfolding trailor, the minicon, and the same transforming method. The only real difference is a modified Sparkplug minicon and a new paint job. I find this toy totally unnecessary. The original Armada Optimus Prime is still available. Who would want another one of the same toy? (Unlike Starscream and Thundercracker, this one is the same character.) I recommend the original (non-Powerlinx) over this one. The Prowerlinx version has a wacko paint job. Optimus Prime looks like a clown.
Despite Hasbro's intersiting decision to make repainted models of existing transformers, Optimus Prime is still a good buy. He isn't very articulate in robot form, but still is impressive. In Super-robot form, Prime's arms are very articulate. His exhaust pipes combine to form a two-barrelled gun. This Optimus can also combine with Jetfire and (the soon to come)Overload to form an awesome robot. Overall this is okay, but get the original Armada release. That one does justice to the original Optimus Prime.

OK I know this toy has some flaws but you gotta respect that it is still Optimus Prime! Granted, anything besides the 20th anniversary Optimus is going to be slightly lackluster. Considering this is the third one of the Armada series Optimus' I have purchased (Superlink and standard Armada) this toy is still great. I think the quality that impresses me is the asthetic looks of the toy. He looks like a beefed up Prime and not like the overweight, rotund Prime of the Energon series. Plus, you need more than one of these anyway so you can have the Super Optimus and the regular one with the battlestation.
The only real flaw I have found with these is that the Front grill of the truck pops off all the time and doesnt really want to stay in place. Second, the light in his hand quit working after 15 mins of "play" time.
Finally, I would recommend him to anyone who is collecting and needs multiple Optimus's to complete their showcase.

OK TO GET ONE THING STRAIT THIS TOY IS GREAT, IN MY OPINION THE BEST AUTOBOT ON THE MARKET. PERSONALLY THE BEST SUB-CATEGORY IS THE DECEPTICONS, BUT THAT IS MY OPINION. EVERYONE SAIS IT IS UNNECASERY EXT.,BUT IT IS THE BEST INTRODUTION TO THE ARMADA LINE FOR AN AUTOBOT FAN. I HAVE BEEN THIKING OF BUYING IT SO MUCH THAT I ALMOST LOST CONCHESNESS EVEN THOUGH I OBJECT TO BUYING AN AUTOBOT.
FOR YOUR INFOMATION TIS IS NOT A REPAINT EVEN THOUGH IN MANUFACTUREING THEY USE THE SAME MOLDS. THIS IS ACTUALLY A OPTIMUS WITH NEW AND INPROVED ARMOR WHICH IN THE SHOW WAS FROM A MINICON WICH RESTORED OPTIMUS' SPARK(SOUL OF A TRANSFORMER)AND HIS ARMOR.
IF YOU THOUGHT THE ORIGONAL O.P. HAD AN ODD COLOR GET THIS ONE INSTEAD.
