4.0 out of 5 stars Beast Wars Transmetals a great game!
First of all, the screenshot given for this game is of the old Beast Wars PSX game, which was vastly inferior to this game.

Anyway, I own the Japanese version and it is a very good fighting game. It doesn't have really any complex combos, but still has a variety of attacks and special moves. Similar to Tekken, but you can move around freely in arenas and interact...

3.0 out of 5 stars BEAST WARS: TRANSMETALS.
This game is a vast improvement over the original Beast Wars, that appeared on playstation consoles back in 1997, but there's still room for improvement.

First off, this game, like the original, was made before the show's final season, so many great characters, or better versions of existing ones, were not included, such as: Optimal Optimus, Transmetal II Megatron,...

First of all, the screenshot given for this game is of the old Beast Wars PSX game, which was vastly inferior to this game.

Anyway, I own the Japanese version and it is a very good fighting game. It doesn't have really any complex combos, but still has a variety of attacks and special moves. Similar to Tekken, but you can move around freely in arenas and interact with the backgrounds (throw rocks at opponents or avoid hazards). The game is best played in difficult mode to get the best challenge, but still isn't overly complicated. All the players can transform into both beast and vehicle modes (Fuzors excluded). Several CGI movies are also contained in the game and beautifully rendered. An added bonus to the US version are four secret playable characters! And an even bigger bonus is that the REAL voice actors from the TV show were brought in to do the voices in the game!

Overall, it's a great game for TF fans and even more fun with 2 players. Die-hard fans of the fighting genre may find the gameplay simplistic and blow through it quickly, but it's a great game to combat as your favourite BW characters.

This game is a vast improvement over the original Beast Wars, that appeared on playstation consoles back in 1997, but there's still room for improvement.

First off, this game, like the original, was made before the show's final season, so many great characters, or better versions of existing ones, were not included, such as: Optimal Optimus, Transmetal II Megatron, Depth Charge, Transmetal II cheetor, and Transmetal II Dinobot. But what I disliked even more, was that star characters, that had been with the show since season one and two were also left out, just because they weren't 'transmetals'. And what was the deal with that unofficial transmetal rhineox?!

I also did'nt like the way the battle fields were designed. I was hoping for something in a 'third person' perspective. A game that offered a full 3-D environment, along with the ability to fly. Instead, this game offeres you flying characters that only look to hover about a foot off the ground, and the camera that's is almost always positioned at a bird's eye view.

On the positive side, the characters looked and sounded better than I expected. Besides being a little pixelated, which can be smoothed over when played on the PS2, they look very true to their t.v. show counterparts. It has also come to my knowledge that Bam! Entertainment will be making a 'NEW BEAST WARS GAME' for PLAYSTATION 2! It's been delayed now for over a year, but is rumored it could be hitting the stores sometime in 2002! I just hope this new 128-bit incarnation, if it ever comes out, will feature EVERY version of EVERY character that ever appeared in Beast Wars, along with fighting arenas that offer battles in the air, underwater, as well as on the ground. Becaust if this new PS2 game is released, it could likely be the last Beast Wars game ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beast Wars, October 3, 2000

I think the title sums up the game quite nicely, but for all you unbelivers... This game, based off of 8 Transmetal Transformers; is an edge of your seat fighting game. Controling your character as far as fighting and using special weapons is easy and not difficult. Stratagy is the key, to know when to block, when to move and especially when to tap a keg on the enemy's head. The only reason this review isnt a five is because I do wish the game was a little longer and included two or four more popular Beast Wars charaters.

I bought this game and I thought it was pretty good but it would be even better if Megatron X the Dragon was on it like on the 64 version. And they could of made better secret characters but still it is a good game to have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beast Wars gets transformed into an killer fighter, June 30, 2000

This review is from: Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals (Video Game)
The first Beast Wars game for the sony playstation left much to be desired, but thanks to Bam! Entertainment and Hasbro, this latest incarnation of the Beast wars transformers game took the series to new heights. Beast Wars: Transmetals is without a doubt the best Transformer game to date. Using the same tried and true fight engine as other popular fighters(think powerstone on DC) this game brings the house down. The Transformers all look very close to their TV counterparts, complete with the orignal voice actors, and so much attention was given to detail in this game that they all even transform exactly the same wheter in beast or robot mode. This game is also highly interactive, from the second you pick up your controller you'll be jumping out of your seat, dodging falling boulders, snow storms, lava pits, energon crystals, quicksand, and as if all that wasnt enough you still have that do-gooder maximal or pesky predacon to deal with. But dont fret, you can also use this to your advantage by picking up various objects like boulders and crystals to get the upper hand in battle. The modes featured in this game are superb! You get your standard arcade mode which has been beautifully woven into a story mode where you can choose to fight as the maximals or the predacons trying to make your way to the enemy base stronghold to either save or conquer the universe. Also a impressive story mode where you can just sit back and watch the the tfs duke it out in TV style with dramatic camera angles, letting you view the action from all sides. Youve also got your Survival MOde, Training mode, and VS mode to challenge a friend or the computer in any stage you choose. This game is also packed with goodies like an extras mode where you can listen to all the voices, music, and sounds from the game, and a very impressive photo gallery of the actual various toys produced for Beast Wars to help you on those buying descisions. Great stuff indeedy! The game also has hidden secrets to unlock like hidden characters and more options to add to the extas the more the game is played. Hands down, a definite must own title for any TF fan. Roll out to your nearest game store now and grab this game.

This game really is da bomb! So much better than the original BEAST WARS. The origonal was solw, simple, but this version has new graphics, sounds, players, and so much more. It is slightly more comlicated than the last version, but that's a good thing!

2.0 out of 5 stars Beast wars transformers, November 21, 2000

This review is from: Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals (Video Game)
People, people, people. This game is not at all what i expected. I first saw this game at a mall but didn't have enough money to buy it. I got the money and Bought it here.

WARNING it is a fighting game , not a strategy. You can only be 8 wimpy characters that have only 2 special attacks that are easy to dodge. The voices are o.k. but they only say 2 lines.

The battle grounds suck and the graphics are horrible. You can only use Optimus, Cheetor , Rat trap, Silverbolt for the Maximals and For the Predecons you can only use Megatron, Tarantulas, quick strike and Rampage. T

This game is easy to beat as i am not a pro gamer but i beat it on hard in less than 10 minutes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Who would pay this much?, January 1, 2011

This review is from: Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals (Video Game)
Who in their right mind would pay $1,200 for a PlaystationONE game? I mean really, Final Fantasy VII is a great game for PlaystationONE and I can find it for under $100, but this game, wow. That's a little much, especially when you can get a used copy pretty cheap.

the game is so addicting if you love transformers this game offers so much to you that it can keep you going for several weeks worth of mind blowing experiences. it also plays very smoothly for a game of its age which had some of the best graphics for its time to even on the n64 where the characters even showed their true personality's. like rattrap always acting cocky in the show in the game hes just as cocky and comical.
