This review is from: Transformers Classic Voyager Battle for Autobot City Ultra Magnus VS Skywarp (Toy)
Hasbro should have made more of this set for consumers. It's the best Transformers 2 pack to ever be sold. Skywarp is perfect for those looking for the ever elusive Starscream, and Ultra Magnus is more like his comic book representation in this set. Both figures transform well and are pretty posable. A must have for Transformers collectors.

Nice addition to your collection,
This review is from: Transformers Classic Voyager Battle for Autobot City Ultra Magnus VS Skywarp (Toy)
This release is based on the Dreamwave storyline involving Shockwave's consolidation of the Autobots and Decepticons into a single faction. During this period Ultra Magnus becomes a General, temporarily serving under Shockwave's command. Eventually, Ultra Magnus is attacked by Shockwave, sustaining a high level of damage and shedding his ravaged outer armor. Skywarp, meanwhile, is generally cited as a dim-witted and unimaginative thug nevertheless equipped with the ability to teleport at will.
Ultra Magnus is a revamp of Voyager Class Optimus Prime, the mold of which is a stylishly-angular heavily-articulated tribute to the Gen 1 version. Magnus is equipped with his Laser Gun, and a second larger blaster rifle contained with a transformable back plate. Skywarp is a better proportioned and articulated Gen 1 update featuring arm-mounted projectile-firing guns. A repaint of the previously released Classics Starscream but stands apart with his lavishly dark color scheme.

Value in Disguise,
This review is from: Transformers Classic Voyager Battle for Autobot City Ultra Magnus VS Skywarp (Toy)
As a collector of Transformers since the beginning I grew continually more skeptical of the robots of today. Very few I bought. However this pairing caught my eye. Skywarp and Ultra Magnus look better OUT of the box. Skywarp looks the same yet has a greater range of movement making new poses possible. Ultramagnus looks a little different but, once again, poses much better. A far cry from those "ball-in-joint" beast-wars things they put out.
Overall a great addition to any display. p.s. I got mine at the local Target for less than twenty... sry Amazon guys...

I bought Skywarp as a seperate item from some selling it on here. I wasn't really worried about getting Ultra Magnus, since I was just collecting all of the decepticon jets which turned out to be a nice addition.

For this review alone I am going to break this down into two parts. 1st is Skywarp then Ultra Magnus.
Skywarp Skywarp is a repaint of Classics Starscream. They say they messed up his tec specs for his flight speed. Usually Skywarp is the second fastest and Thundercracker is the slowest. But it's a small mistake on Hasbro's part. Skywarp was not released in Japan until after Universe was started here. He was sold individually or in a bundle with Thundercracker (in his own box). On to Ultra Magnus. Ultra Magnus Ultra Magnus is a repaint of Classics Optimus Prime. So yes again Ultra Magnus is Prime's "white albino twin". The reason alot of people want him is because Fansproject has released a custom trailer for him to tow in truck mode and to turn into his armor. Please note the custom is only available in limited numbers. So thats it. |
