I have been an advid collector of the re-issues as they have been coming out and I have to say that Hoist is one of the worst as far as construction and workmaship goes. He just seems flimsy and not well put together. Definitely something you would not see from the Takara re-issues. Overall he brings back that nostalgic feeling many of us had when we had these guys as kids but there are better constructed re-issues out there from Hasbro and more so from Takara.

Hoist is the tow truck of the classic autobots; tow attachment pulls off easily but is very durable and easily slips back in place. wings behind head fall off too easily though and hands / missle support posts are slightly smaller than the original so you cannot use the parts to complete a vintage display toy This one is great for collectors and pretty good as a toy for kids. the Die Cast metal is durable and well painted transforms easly and a kid can do it. Wish they would have included reproduction original type directions instead of current hasbro pictographs though

Similiar to the Autobot Trailbreaker, his tranformation is different from other. His built is heavy up top and skinny leg, but a lot more balance standing then Jazz or Silverstreak. Looks flimsy in the middle part. His finish is quite good. Come with interchangable hands and missile, doesn't shoot. I didn't like this charactor too much in the TV series, because he looks funny. Now I am quite in press with this toy.

Hoist is one of the many G1 autobots that I couldn't afford when I was a kid but now have an opportunity to own thanks to Hasbro's reissue program. Like many of his contemporaries, Hoist's alt mode is an incredibly detailed repilica of an actual vehicle- which in Hoist's case is a 1980s Toyota pickup with tow equipment. One of the reasons why I enjoy Hoist so much is his transformation sequence, which is unlike any other figure in the G1 line (except Trailbreaker) and when completed, produces a powerful looking (albeit top-heavy) robot. Hoist feels very sturdy, much more so than, say, Silverstreak and Prowl- but I'd still be leary of buying him for someone other than a collector. My only complaint about Hoist is the fists, which are not part of the main figure and have to be attached after transformation to robot. Even so, Hoist remains a great figure from the days when Transformers were still made of metal and were based from cars you could see on the road.

This is an easy item to review. It is an exact replica of the 80s toy with all the stickers, tech specs and box art of the original. The toy itself is very durable and well made so it will last a long time if it is taken care of. My son thoroughly enjoys his G1 Transformer collection.

I never owned Hoist when I was a kid and wasn't very interested in him at the time. Since Hasbro has been reissuing G1 Transformers, I have been rebuilding my original collection. Overall, I was impressed with the toy. In vehicle mode, he is a tow truck with a boom that can be lowered to tow (albeit slowly) other similar sized vehicles. The color scheme is predominantly dark green with the bright orange tow mechanism. The contrasting scheme looks a lot better in person that I thought it would. The winshield is clear. A small door on the top of the cab can be opened to reveal a seat. The tires are rubber, which is a big plus. The front end of the truck is die cast metal, which is another big plus. With the tow mechanism, the play value of the vehicle mode is better than most G1 vehicles. Transformation to robot mode is typical for G1 transformers. The legs fold out from underneath, the arms pull out from the sides, the front end folds down, and the head folds out from behind the cab. The fists are separate and have to be attached into his wrists. The wing accessories are attached to the back and a cool sensor gun is attached behind his head. The robot mode features more painted chrome on the legs and arms. Hoist also has four different missiles that can be placed in his arms instead of fists. The spring launch mechanism has unfortunately been disabled so poor Ralphie Parker doesn't shoot his eye out. Hoist has 3 points of articulation (shoulders up and down, shoulders rotate, and elbows bend)- Not too bad for a G1 toy. The shoulder joints feel a bit flimsy and will break with excessive play. Hoist stands well and is stable. From previous experiences, I know the joints for unfolding the legs are prone to weakening, resulting in transformers that can not stand. The detail in the head is really nice. Hoist has a bulky upper body and skinny chrome legs with orange highlights. I always thought his legs look like he's wearing leg warmers. Overall, this is a good transformer and a pretty good value. I enjoy all the accessories- especially the 2 different missiles that can be attached to his arms. I would recommend this toy to nostalgic collector's like myself that want a close reproduction of G1s with all the accessories without shelling out dollars for the originals.

Having never been given Hoist as a kid 20 years ago, I had to wait two decades to get him. Hoist is for the collector or nostalgic fan only. His transformation is not that great, and his robot is somewhat lame. Like most G1 Transformers, his missles do not shoot, and its easy to misplace his parts He does have nice balance, so he will be wonderful as a shelf. But if you want him to actually play with, you should forego him.

Moist I mean Hoist is one hundred percent pure diecast of a good buy. Especially for $30 buckaroos!!! This guy is a tow truck that could haul Autobot cars like the likes of ,UM Ironhide? Ironhide saying, "Leaking Lubricant!" Hoist saying,"Didn't I just gave you an oil change?" Huffer saying, "You must of forgotten to change the ol' rusty 9 million year old oil filter!" Schmoist is a diaclone of Trailbreaker. Except for the green color paint, his facial structure, and his orange towing equipment. About the durability since he's made of diecast like the other g1 transformers don't leave him out in the moisture. The high humidity especially here in South Florida will turn him into an old rust bucket. Megatron saying, "Like Alfatrion Ahhhh!!!" And the pin that connects hoist head falls off rather easily. You don't want to loose that now. Cause if you do, he'll look like ,um Ironhide? Blastoff saying,"Brawl has lost his head again, and now I'm stuck with an Ironhide!" Whether you want Shmoist to fix your car or do maintenance around your house, he is a good buy! He'll sure work better if you feed him bagel and coffee on a daily basis instead of energon. Moist saying,"And The name is Hoist!"
