I gotta say, at first I was really disappointed in Battle Blade Bumblebee (hereafter BBB). I find the figure on the whole rather "fiddly". That is to say, I think he's much harder to transform than the original movie Deluxe Concept Camaro Bumblebee (hereafter DCCB), which I also own.

The robot back to car transformation of BBB really confused the heck out of me. Hasbro kept the lower-leg automorph transformation from DCCB, but they've changed the upper legs so that you really have to line them up just so to put the rear end of the car back together, and there's a big hollow place under the rear windshield (this is where the cannon was held in car mode on DCCB, but BBB's weapons are built into his arms, so he doesn't have a separate cannon). When I try to push the car doors back in to complete the transformation to car mode, because of the hollow spot, I very frequently end up crumpling the whole rear end in on itself and then I have to line everything back up just so and try again. I haven't broken anything, and the fig's solid enough that I don't think I'll break it, but it's just, as I said before, "fiddly".

I absolutely love DCCB's upper-body transformation. The automorph that swings the doors/wings up as you swing the chest down is so satisfying, it's just _brilliant_. Also, the way the doors/wings end up sitting close together on his back is very screen-accurate, and there's no kibble or backpack. Every car part becomes robot armor somewhere on his body, and the whole upper body ends up being very compact and solid when you finish. The only complaints I've had about the figure are the poor head sculpt and the disproportionally large roof parts as forearm guards.

BBB's upper-body transformation is comparatively rather uninspired. His doors/wings sit very far apart on his back and he has a backpack (made from the whole roof of the car) that barely supports itself on a peg that doesn't really peg in, more like "rests" in. His chest pieces are similarly wobbly. Every time I pick him up I screw up his chest and his backpack. Maybe I just need to learn how/where to grab him, but his whole upper body just doesn't feel nearly as solid as DCCB's.

As far as movie-accuracy, I already mentioned the wings/doors---I think they're all wrong on BBB. But I think just about everywhere else, though, BBB wins. I never had any complaint before, personally, about the look of DCCB's chest, but I have to admit they've done a better job making BBB's chest really pop (as wobbly as it is). And of course he finally has the screen accurate forearm guards. When considering him purely on looks, I can even forgive the backpack, since you most often look at the figure from the front.

So, I guess, to recap, DCCB is the clear winner on a solid, satisfying transformation from car to robot and back, and he's a figure I'll keep and continue to enjoy playing with. When considering looks alone for displaying him on my desk next to ROTF Leader Prime, as dissatisfied as I am with him generally, I think BBB does win out in the end.

One more thing: the packaging for this toy lists it as suitable for ages five and up. I do not personally know any five-year-olds that would be able to figure out how to transform this toy without a _lot_ of adult supervision. This toy was clearly made for older kids and geeky nostalgic adults like myself.

This bumblebee is very cool to say the least. The detail is oustanding in both modes. This one has some sweet features to go with it.He has the cannon feature but still actually has a hand also so you get both instead of just one.On the other arm he has a battle axe that retracts when not in use and stores easily. The durability is excellent as well is the poseability. The transformation is advanced so if you have experience with transformers it is not that difficult. If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 you will probably have to help them some.Bottom line Bumblebee is a well-made,high quality,10 out of 10 figure with sweet new features.I highly recommend Battle Blade Bumblebee to all transformer fans out there.Transformers Rule!!!!!!!!!

There have probably been more remolds of "Movie/Michael Bay Bumblebee" than any other Transformer figure. Since the first movie Bumblebee toy hit shelves back in 2007, the figure has been re-issued over and over and does not seem to be slowing down. I can think of at least 11 remolds of this figure off the top of my head. However, because of the extra "gimmicks"/play features in this figure I feel that this one is the best of them all. Let me explain why:

For me, Transformers figures are judged by how good they look in both their robot mode and alternate mode. Sometimes the manufacturer has to sacrifice one mode over another. This figure does a great job in both modes. What really sets it apart though, are the gimmicks and extra play features. In the Transformers live-action films, Bumblebee is featured as having a flip down mask to cover his eyes. Because the heads on these toy figures are so tiny, this play-feature was only simulated via alternate heads on different figures. For example, if you wanted an un-masked Bumblebee you had to buy a figure without a mask, if you wanted a masked Bumblebee, you had to buy one with a mask (see Transformers Movie Deluxe Class Bumblebee 2008 Camaro vs Transformers Premium Series - Bumblebee). When the "Human Alliance" toyline came out, you could have both but you were going up in scale (the Human Alliance figures are much larger than other figures) so now you have a sports car that is bigger than a humvee, big rig truck, airplane, etc. To get a Human Alliance Bumblebee you were also going up in cost significantly as well (Transformers Human Alliance - Bumblebee.

The figure here is the first Deluxe-size Bumblebee to feature the flip-down mask. The other bonus gimmicks/play features include a transforming right hand that forms into a cannon and a spring-loaded translucent "battle blade" (that the figure is named after) in the left hand. There are a couple of things that I look for in my Transformers figures and two hands is one of them. With a few rare exceptions (Shockwave), almost all Transformers have two hands. Sure one hand may transform into a weapon now and again, but they still have two hands. When a toy figure comes with a permanently molded gun-for-a-hand, I can't help but feel sorry for that toy. He/she/it is destined to remain in a combat-ready mindset and can never just kickback and relax, take up knitting or any other recreational activity that requires two hands. Very sad. See: Transformers: Dark of the Moon - MechTech Leader - BumblebeeTransformers Battle Ops Bumblebee or Transformers Movie Series 2 "Revenge of the Fallen" Deluxe Class 6 Inch Tall Robot Action Figure - Autobot BUMBLEBEE with Pulse Missile Launcher and 1 Missile (Vehicle Mode: Camaro Concept) for examples of sad, one-handed Bumblebee toys.

Pros
Great looking robot and car modes
Two hands
Lots of gimmicks/play features:
Flip down mask
Right arm transforms into a cannon
Left arm features a flip down blade/axe

Cons
The transformation from robot to car and vice versa takes much longer than Transformers Movie Deluxe Class Bumblebee 2008 Camaro
The battle axe is positioned backwards. Instead of chopping "down" Bumblebee would have to chop "up". A bit awkward.
Some paint applications such as the license plate, exhaust pipes and tail lights are missing.

Does not transform easily.
Better off leaving as a Transformer, extremely difficult to transform back to car. Would not recommend buying this toy.

Good version of bumblebee
I still say the human alliance version is most movie accurate, but this one is fun too. The battle blade is a little lame, but the hand that turns into a cannon is a neat gimmick.
