This review is from: Transformers: Generation One Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
Transformers: Generation 1 volume 1 is a great book! This is the a new reprint of the classic Dreamwave Transformers mini- series known as "Prime Directive". This Transformers book is written by Chris Sarracini and the artwork superstar artist, Pat Lee! All the classic Generation 1 characters appear in this book, like Spike, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Jazz, Cliffjumper, Wheeljack, Superion, Devestator and etc., This book was originally published under Dreamwave Productions but the comic company had closed down in January 2005. Now, IDW Publishing has reprinted this book and is now back in print at the bookshelves! A+

Story Trumps Art,
This review is from: Transformers: Generation One Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
I'm a comic book art addict, and have to admit that the Dreamwave style is not my favorite. When I first read this book, I loved the story, but hated the art, so decided not to buy it. But after a while, I found I could not live without the great story. So I bought it, and have never regretted the purchase.
This is my favorite written version of Optimus Prime ever. He's just awesome in this book. There is some truly great exploration of why he does what he does, and is who he is. Bottom Line: This is a great book. Buy it if you love Optimus Prime. Buy it if you love a good story. Buy it if you enjoy good writing. (And the art really isn't all that bad!) |
