3.0 out of 5 stars workability
I purchased this toy for my grandson who had another optimus prime he loved and lost. He was delighted but then dissappointed because he could not "transform" it with out his father's help. Too bad.

I purchased this item as a gift for my grandson (age 8) who had lost his beloved optimus prime. This one was a little different than the one he had previously...

First off, he's not from the Movie toy line. He's from the Generations line (War for Cybertron subcategory), a new line coming out this year. Below are the pros and cons for this figure.

-Pros
- Extremely durable, he won't break easily. (Some have reported breakage problems, but I haven't experienced any such problems. After numerous transformations and poses I haven't had a single problem.)
- As with Bumblebee, his Robot mode is very accurate to his in game counterpart.
- Minimal kibble (excess hanging off his back)
- Gun can change from his Ion Blaster (rifle) to a cannon that can be set on the back of his car for storage and vehicle display.
- Vehicle mode rolls well, and stays together well. A sturdy alt mode, similar in look to his War Within design.

-Cons
- First few transformations are a bit daunting.
- More complicated than Bumblebee, but nowhere near as tough as the ROTF line.
- Kids will have a hard time with him, I'd recommend this for collectors.

Well, that's my take on the figure. He's highly durable, accurate, and just a great figure. However his transformation difficulty may make it a better choice to keep it as a collectors item than giving it to a child. I can't recommend him enough, he's truly a fantastic figure. Hope this helps someone out.

It's true this isn't the most durable Transformer I own but its by far my favorite. The transformation is incredibly simple with practice. It's difficulty at first is partially due to confusing instructions. He's not as durable as I'd hoped. But he'll survive sitting on my shelf and being transformed occasionally. I would not recommend this for a 5 year old. 10 or older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another toy worthy of the name Prime, August 18, 2010

The newest incarnation of Optimus Prime is most certainly one of the best. It does have a few panels that are part of the transformation, but the rest is truly complex enough for at least a voyager class figure. The joints hold up better than the Cybertronian Bumblebee that was also recently released, and though some panels seem a little flimsy, they hold up to most stress you put them through. I highly recommend this to anyone who collects Transformers, and especially anyone who collects Optimus Prime.

I don't often give a toy a perfect rating but take it from me, this is the best version of Prime I have bought in a long time!! the transformation is a little complicated at first but a blast when you get the hang of it. It is a deluxe class figure but is still taller than most of my deluxe classes. the vehicle mode is nicely molded and the paint apps are amazing. The robot mode is unmatched by any Prime. Excellent detail 100% satisfied by everything. BUY IT!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars HOW CAN THIS POSSIBLY BE $26??, February 28, 2011
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars

I really enjoy this toy. I really like the transformation and the look of both modes. His transformation at first is difficult to get but becomes simple with practice. The Cybertron look is very cool and ties in with the game. However, no one should 26 dollars for him. This optimus is 12 dollars retail and i can still find him in my area. If you want to complete a set and can't find him in stores, go ahead and grab him. Otherwise, wait and get the new prime coming out at the 12 dollar price.

5.0 out of 5 stars One thing you might want to be careful of, December 25, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Transformers Generations Level:4 Optimus Prime (Toy)
This Optimus is just as good as everyone says.

No real review here as there are plenty of proper reviews, I just want to point out that in vehicle mode primes face is in a precarious position. I rolled it back and forth on my desk and I guess it wasn't properly transformed, since it appeared to be dragging his face slightly. So the paint applications on his face mask are very mildly worn. I didn't thoroughly inspect his face out of the package so I can't 100% attribute this to the head placement in vehicle mode, but it looks that way.

A great Optimus Prime fig. considering it's one of the few prime "deluxe" figures out there. The detail replication from the video game is well done. The transformation is tricky but not too bad once you get the hang of it.

While by no means the largest Optimus Prime figure available, and not the best, Cybertronian Prime is definitely one of the nicer incarnations we've received in the past couple of years. At the Deluxe price point, he's as screen-accurate to the Transformers: War for Cybertron video game as possible. But it's not just about that, as his own merits as both a Transformer and a darn good action figure will be apparent once you pick him up. This Optimus is very articulated, has a challenging transformation without being impossible, is very sturdy, and even comes with a signature, transforming weapon. The only thing Cybertronian Prime is possibly missing is his enormous energon axe as seen in the videogame, and his hover mode from the game, but these are very minor omissions. Whether for a child who needs a Prime to lead his Autobots, a game geek who enjoys WFC, or the Transformer collector, Cybertronian Optimus Prime is worth rolling out to purchase.

This Transformer is great! I comes straight out of the game and has tons of articulation! If you were hesitant to get the figures from this line, dont be! They are spot-on and you wont be disappointed!

To start, the articulation is amazing. Posabiltiy is intact and the joints are great.
What really won me over is the complexety of the transformation! I like for a deluxe
to have that type of difficulty, but not too hard-when you read the "advanced" on
the level part on the card, believe it! Definitely go get this figure!
